Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the biggest modern shonen anime and manga series at the moment. Jujutsu Kaisen first burst into popularity in 2020 with its first anime season, and its popularity has since surpassed all expectations.
10 Anime Almost as iconic as One Piece
One Piece is monumental, but so are these other anime series.
While Jujutsu Kaisen is definitely one of the most talked about anime right now, it is far from the greatest. Its quality cannot be understated, but there are many new anime and old anime series that surpass it, both in terms of fighting and overall storytelling.
One Piece
One Piece is one of the most famous and loved series around the world. Following the story of Monkey D. Luffy on his quest to find One Piece, this manga has been going for over 28 years now, and it's not really slowing down anytime soon.
The act of One Pieceits characters and the world Oda has established are on a whole other level, especially compared to Jujustu Kaisen. One Piece may not always have the most intense shiny battles, but everything else it offers makes up for it.
Naruto
The Naruto and Naruto Shippuden anime series are widely recognized as some of the best. The Naruto The series follows the journey of Naruto Uzumaki, an orphaned boy in the world of ninjas as he grows in strength to reach his ultimate goal of becoming the Hokage of his village.
It's clear that the Jujutsu Kaisen series has taken a lot of inspiration from Naruto. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara and even Gojo are all clearly based on Naruto's Team 7. On top of everything, Naruto features some of the best fighting in Shonen animesome superior even fights from JJK. Overall, the quality of the story is much better in Naruto.
Hunter X Hunter
When it comes to legendary shonen anime series, Hunter X Hunter is always part of the conversation. Togashi's work has been revolutionary and it has inspired many other mangaka who came after him, including Gege Akutami. Togashi's HxH manga follows the story of Gon Freecs as he goes in search of his father, a legendary hunter who left him years ago.
One of the many things Jujutsu Kaisen is known for is its power system. But HxH does it much better. While cursed techniques are detailed and intricate, they pale in comparison to HxH's Nen. Togashi has created one of the best power systems in all of anime, and it shows.
My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia is perhaps the most iconic superhero anime of all time. My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya as he gains one of the world's strongest quirks after being powerless most of his life. His journey to become a great hero has been followed by millions of fans over the years.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Every Special Grade Curse, Ranked
Special class curses are exceptionally powerful, and they can make short work of the best wizards.
Compared to JJK, My Hero Academia took more time to expand the knowledge of its main characters. Most JJK The characters have not been developed properly, even those from the main cast. Meanwhile, the overall story writing in My Hero Academia is far deeper.
Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer can definitely be considered the current king of anime. Both Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen started around the same time, but for now it's clear that Demon Slayer is ahead.
Demon Slayer is a pretty simple story. It tells of the events in Tanjiro's life after his family is brutally murdered by the king of demons, and his only surviving sister is turned into a demon herself. Despite its simplicity, it has a charm about it, and it has become one of the best-selling manga series of all time, as well as one of the most successful anime.
Attack on Titan
Over the years, Attack on Titan has become one of the most iconic anime series of modern times. Just like Jujutsu Kaisenmuch of Attack on Titan's appeal comes from its ferocity. No character in this series is safe, and anyone can die at any time.
The titans, gigantic man-eating creatures, definitely keep fans on the edge of their seats. Curses, in comparison, are much less threatening. Aside from this, Attack on Titan has an incredibly deep story and compelling characters like Eren, Levi, Erwin, Zeke, Historia, among others.
Of the two, it's the series with the more interesting story, and it doesn't just rely on battles to be interesting.
Whiten
If it's a series like Gege Akutami, the creator of JJKhas cited as a major inspiration for his work, it definitely is Whiten. Without Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen would never have seen the light of day. At the very least, the series would have lost much of what makes it as iconic as it is, such as the Domain Expansions, which were inspired by Bankais.
There is no doubt that Ichigo's story remains one of the most influential and one of the greatest anime series of the 21st century.
