Fixed God of war fans are still waiting with baited breath to find out who will play Kratos and his son, Atreus, they may now know who will play some of his opponents. According to insider Daniel Richtman, known for sharing scoops on the MCU, DCU and other areas of geek culture, God of wars Baldur and Thor can be played by Max Parker and Olafur Darri Olafsson.
Max Parker has appeared in many television shows, including Doctor Who and Bootsas well as films such as The Vampire Academy. Boots was the breakout role for the 33-year-old actor, who certainly has the right vibe for Baldur. Facially, there are some clear similarities between the Englishman and Santa Monica's take on Odin's callous son, and he's in excellent physical shape – something that should help ensure his inevitable fight with Kratos comes close to the magical boss encounter from the opening hours of 9pm. God of war 2018.
As for Thor's rumored cast, Olafur Darri Olafsson shone in the critically acclaimed series Severance, and he's also won awards for his roles in The Deep and The Minister. The 52-year-old boasts impressive facial hair like Thor Odinson, with the reddish hue also matching the game's take on the Mjolnir-wielding god. He's also 6-foot-2 with a similar build to Thor in the game, which, combined with his acting pedigree, basically guarantees he's a perfect fit for the character.
Official information about Amazon's God of War may be coming sooner rather than later
Obviously, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as unofficial information can always turn out to be false. Also, while that's true, Richtman said the actors are only “in talks” for these roles as of now, meaning there's a chance a deal can't be reached, or that different actors could be cast for the characters. Still, the response to these names has been unanimously positive on social media platforms like Reddit, with users specifically citing Olafsson's voice as another quality that makes him perfect for Thor. As for when fans can expect to hear any official news God of warThe Amazon alignment in early 2026 is a safe bet given that production will begin in March next year.
Given that there will likely be a lot of effects work for one God of war TV series, a 2027 release date is likely for the first season of the show.
What's particularly interesting about this leak is that Thor appears to be cast for the first season of the show despite him only being a wrap-up film in God of war 2018. This suggests that he could have a larger role in the show, with episodes potentially exploring the elves instead of letting their stories play out in the background. Fans may get to see Thor interact with his brother Baldur and his two sons, something that didn't happen in the games, and there's even a chance that his fight with Kratos' wife Faye could be depicted on screen. While there is an order for two seasons God of war on Amazon, it is unclear if both of these seasons will be used to tell the 2018 gaming story or if Season 2 will focus on Ragnarök — though many would certainly hope the sequel would get at least two seasons so it's properly covered and not rushed.
While comic book purists may have concerns The God of War shows that they potentially spend too much time on supporting characters and take focus away from Kratos and Atreus, there are merits to the idea. For now, fans will have to wait patiently to find out if this exciting casting leak turns out to be true, and if Amazon can strike gold with another game adaptation just like it did with its Fall-out series.
