After the launch of Stardew Valley In 2016, the gaming landscape has seen a huge surge in popularity for so-called “cozy” life simulation titles, and the highly anticipated Stardew-similar Starsand Island has now confirmed that it's coming to Nintendo Switch 2, making it even more accessible to fans of cozy gaming. Starsand Island has previously been confirmed to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the game's addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 library will see it join an already impressive line-up of cozy titles.
Stardew Valley was certainly not the first to offer an adorable life-sim adventure. Hit games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon was among the earliest titles that Stardew Valley itself drew inspiration, but it would be unfair to dismiss its effect Stardew has had on many modern releases, as well as its overall influence on the now fully realized genre of cozy games. While many titles in the cozy life-sim category have come and gone, and some would argue that the genre is becoming bloated in recent years, public excitement for Starsand Island is largely helped by its similarities to its spiritual predecessors but also its stunning visuals and cross-cultural influences.
