Diablo 4 could reveal its second expansion at the 2025 edition of The Game Awards, according to a gaming industry insider who claimed that a statue posted by TGA host Geoff Keighley was related to Blizzard's potential plans. Although some fans initially said the statue Keighley posted about could be for one Diablo 4 expansion announcement, others claimed that the statue could be used to announce other games, such as God of war and The Elder Scrolls 6.
The news came amid two different in-game events Diablo 4 players can drop their time. Both the Compass to Carnage and Mother's Blessing events are now live until Tuesday, December 2nd, giving players a great opportunity to get extra gold, gear, and Infernal Horde Compasses that can be used to farm Chaos armor pieces in the final days of Season 10, which ends on Tuesday, December 9th. The Compass to Carnage event was not originally intended by Mother's overlap. several months. However, the timing worked in favor of Diablo 4 players, as they only have a couple of days to equip their characters before the two events end on December 2nd.
Diablo 4 players still have time to use their Infernal Compasses before Season 11
Diablo 4 players have a limited window in which to use Infernal Compasses before Season 11.
Insiders suggest that Diablo 4's next expansion will appear at The Game Awards
While rumors of Blizzard's plans for Diablo 4 should be taken with a fine grain of salt, a well-known industry insider stated that Diablo 4s second expansion could be presented in December. Jez Corden stated on Twitter that a demonic statue unveiled by TGA presenter Geoff Keighley could be for a Diablo 4 extension notice. In early November, Corden stated that it might be time to “reinstall Diablo 4” in a seemingly random post, and used an angel emoji in a quoted post as an allusion to Keighley's statue post. Given that The Game Awards will take place on December 11, the show will go live two days after Diablo 4 Season 11 goes live on December 9, immediately following the end of Season 10.
What's with the statue Geoff Keighley posted?
On November 28, Keighley posted a picture of a demonic-looking statue lying in the middle of a desert. The Game Awards social media feed then confirmed that the statue was located in Joshua Tree, California, over 120 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. A video taken by Twitter user Triodug showed the statue from different angles. However, it is currently unclear how this statue could be used as part of a world premiere reveal at The Game Awards.
The statue has several skeletons and monsters placed on the sides. A few steps leading to a closed gate were carved into the center of the statue, giving the appearance of a sealed demonic portal. While Corden and some fans agreed that the statue was created for a potential Diablo 4 expansion announcement at The Game Awards, others said it could be for other game announcements instead. Highly anticipated games like The Elder rolls 6, Half-Life 3and one God of war sequels were among the more popular guesses in responses to Keighley's post. Corden said that while the statue may be for one Diablo 4 expansion announcement, he said that “more” could be revealed at The Game Awards, though it's not clear what that might be.
Where is Diablo 4 going next?
Given that Mephisto, the Lord of Demonic Hate, is still an active threat after the events of The ship of hate expansion, it is likely that his possession of the Prophet Akarat may lead to a rekindled zeal within the long-dead Zakarum faith. Ergo, Mephisto's plans could set the stage for a church-based expansion setting. Should that be the case, a hero class like Paladin or Diablo 3's Crusader could be included as Diablo 4s seventh playable class. But time will tell when Blizzard will reveal its future plans for Diablo franchise.
