Watching the video now might sting a bit for fans, as it promised a 2025 launch, but now GTA 6 plans to come out a year later than originally planned. Despite such a long wait, fans still don't know much about the game. The second trailer and subsequent website updates from Rockstar revealed a few more details, including the names of some key characters and the fact that the story will revolve around Jason and Lucia getting wrapped up in a criminal conspiracy, but the details remain a mystery.
Days before the second trailer dropped, Rockstar made the now infamous announcement that GTA 6 was supposed to be delayed until May 2026. Fast forward to today, and the company has delayed GTA 6 a second time, to push it back to November 19, 2026. Controversy surrounding the recent layoffs and rumors of a hefty price tag have also cast shadows over the game, but there has also been positive news, with some insiders praising the game, even going so far as to say it deserves the $100 some say it might cost. Others have suggested that the game is almost finished as well, which should reduce the chances of a third delay, although nothing is certain, especially with Rockstar still being tight-lipped about the game's development.
Barring further delays, GTA 6 has almost a year to go until its long-awaited launch. That leaves plenty of time for another look at the game, although it's uncertain when any such information will come out. While some last a third GTA 6 trailer at The Game Awards, it seems unlikely, but Rockstar is known for subtly teasing things before surprisingly releasing trailers and announcements outside of major events. GTA 5 had nine trailers before its release, so it seems likely GTA 6 will get at least one or two more.
