'Absolutely Useless' Battlefield 6 players aren't happy with one gadget in particular

Players playing Battlefield 6 have banded together to express their frustration with the Portable Mortar, which is one of the last unlocks available to players at level 49. Battlefield 6 was released on October 10 and is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The Battlefield Comms team recently announced that players can expect to see some big changes in the works Battlefield 6 along with the November 18th California Resistance update. When the update is released, players should see a difference in weapon bloom, as the developers make adjustments to improve the feel of weapons at longer ranges. Additionally, the developers are making some changes to the way the aim assist features work which should bring it closer to how it worked during the open beta. While many fans were happy to hear about the fixes, there are many other changes that players would also like to see.

Battlefield 6 players think the portable mortar is bad

In a recent post on Reddit, SHARPxSHOOTER claimed to have recently unlocked the portable mortar, which can only be used by Battlefield 6s support class. Unfortunately, they weren't very impressed, declaring the gadget to be “absolutely useless”. SHARPxSHOOTER shared several complaints, the first of which was that the portable mortar shells spent far too long in the air before hitting the target. They also complained that the damage from the high-explosive shells was “basically non-existent” and that the spread was too great. They said the gadget was fun to use, but it didn't feel like they were actually providing any kind of meaningful support to their team.

It is not the first time that the gadget has failed to impress society Battlefield 6s portable mortar received similar criticism after a viral video caught the attention of players. In that case, players specifically complained about the smoke pods that can be used to obscure the battlefield, potentially allowing allies to advance while remaining out of sight. Unfortunately, the smoke cloud created by the mortar underwhelmed many of those who used it, as they felt that the size of the smoke cloud did not provide much benefit at all. SHARPxSHOOTER mentioned the smoke shells as well, claiming they dissipated far too quickly and didn't create as much coverage as a smoke grenade.

Other players were quick to agree, advising players to avoid using the portable mortar, as there are better support charges available in Battlefield 6. However, some people stated that the portable mortar really shines when more than one person uses it to support a team. Coordinated attacks from multiple mortars can potentially disrupt an enemy team more effectively than a single mortar. Even with this strategy, many fans seemed to agree that it could use a damage boost. Despite a few hiccups here and there, many players seem to enjoy their time with Battlefield 6 and feel it has a bright future.
