Oda sets up the next king of the world after Imu

Loki flashback of One Piecewhich also featured God Valley, is currently still ongoing in the One Piece manga and has been pretty incredible so far. The God Valley Incident in particular was highly anticipated, having been teased by Eiichiro Oda about 6 years ago first. This stretch of manga has delivered not only in action, but also in terms of lore. By Rocks D. Xebec and Imu, Oda revealed important information to fans about Void Centuryspecifically about the former king of the world, Davy D. Jones.

This big reveal, along with what Egghead gave the fans, sets it up Blackbeard's final destinationwhich will be the new king of the world and fulfill Davy's will. For him to become king, Imu must go down and do Blackbeard is potentially the true final villain in One Piece.

During the Reverie arc of One PieceOda made an absolutely huge revelation around the age of 8 — the One Piece the world was revealed to have a secret ruler who controlled everything from the shadows. This ruler was none other than Saint Imu Nerona. Imu is still a big mystery, but Oda has made it pretty clear in the story that Imu wasn't always the king. During the Void Century, or even before that, the king of the world was Davy D. Jones. However, somehow he was usurped and replaced by Imu.

Ever since then it seems that some descendants of Davy D. Jones has set out to reclaim his throne. Rocks D. Xebec wanted to do just that, but failed and died at God Valley. Now it's up to Blackbeard to fulfill Davy's will and become the next king. In the Egghead arc, Oda revealed Blackbeard's intentions, and he wants to be the king, just like Rocks. This flashback cements his goal even more.

Before Imu's introduction, all fans of the story agreed on that Blackbeard would be One Piece's final villain. But when Imu enters the story, fans are now divided. Imu is the strongest in historyand Elbaf's mural suggests the final battle against them. But the truth is, Blackbeard may still be the last villain in the series.

After all, to become king of the world, Imu must first be defeated. Only after that can Blackbeard reaches his full potential and becomes the final villain in the One Piece world. Luffy and the others cannot let Blackbeard wreak havoc and become the next Imu, so he too must be defeated.
