Baldur's Gate 3 can be a challenging game to get through. After all, there are a lot of tough bosses in the game that you have to take out if you want to make it to the end. Also, the game's honor mode is very difficult, even for Baldur's Gate 3 veterans.
So sometimes it's nice to use a clever feat or two. Since the title's original release, many of them have been patched by the developers. However, the following still remain. Hopefully they never go away.
Get the Helldusk Armor from Raphael in the first act
Free powerful armor
The Helldusk armor is among the best in Baldur's Gate 3, and you can get it as early as Act One, but only if you use an exploit. Start by talking to Nettie in the Emerald Grove, as this will cause Raphael to spawn near the bridge, just outside the Blighted Village. When you're close to where he spawns, split your party to hold a character back. Then, when the conversation with him starts, switch to the other companion and attack him from range. This causes him to disappear, setting up the next interaction.
When you try to move to the mountain pass, the devil will be in your camp. Hit him with the Silence power to stop him from talking, then attack him brutally with non-lethal blows. When he's down, quickly loot him before he disappears. This gives you the armor.
Grant yourself unlimited movement speed with the moose ability aspect
Never stop moving
Aspect of the Elk is a Wildheart Barbarian ability that grants them and nearby allies an extra five feet of movement speed. If you are one of these allies, you can take advantage of this.
If you enter the ability's effective range, exit, then re-enter, that would be two increases to your movement speed. Therefore, you can keep going in and out to increase the speed. All you have to do is make sure you don't venture too far before going back in or you'll burn through some of that movement speed.
Pass around a potion and break it to boost the entire party
Give the whole party a treat
Potions do not need to be drunk to affect your companions. Simply breaking a potion around your characters can give them the effect of the potion. So, for example, if multiple characters need healing and you don't have many healing items, you can place one on the floor, have everyone crawl around it, and then break the bottle. Almost everyone will be affected by it.
This can be done with any breakable drink. Of course, it's better to do it outside of combat, as a bunch of you bunched together would make you a huge target in a fight.
Use smoke powder bombs without using any
All you need is fire
Throwing a smoke powder bomb at an enemy usually consumes an action. However, there is a way around this. If there is an area covered in flames near the enemy, you can drop a bomb into the fire to make it explode.
Of course, you don't want to be too close when that happens, so you can drop the bomb and then move it into the fire to detonate it. This costs no action. Therefore, if you have a bunch of bombs, you can continue to damage them without actually taking any action.
Obtain a permanent shade sheet with the help of a tenant
A powerful blade for early game
The Shadow Blade enchantment allows the caster to create and equip a powerful purple blade that deals psychic damage. It's usually just a temporary thing that disappears when you rest for a long time. However, there is a way around it by using one of the game's brilliant tenants.
Hire a wizard, warlock, or warlock from Withers and then level them up to level three to acquire and use the Shadow Blade enchantment. Then, once they get the purple leaf, return to Withers and tell him to fire your tenant. After that, hire the same tenant as before, and they'll come back with a permanent Shadow Blade for some reason. It's better than the regular one because your other characters can equip it, and it stays after a long rest.
Get what you want from merchants using a wizard
Free money and items
The Warlock power called Bind Pact Weapon allows you to bind your weapon to your hand. If you do this with an expensive one, you can use it to your advantage. Simply trade with a merchant and place any weapon on your side of the trade menu. Then draw the same weapon into your hand to exchange it with your bound weapon.
This places your bound weapon in the trade menu, ready to be sold. You can't physically sell it though, but that doesn't stop the merchant from trying to buy it. So you can let them put money or some of their items into the trade with your bound weapon. This results in you getting their stuff and the weapon staying where it is.
Steal a weapon from a summon
Obtain unobtainable weapons
This does not work on consoles.
Some summons in the game have special weapons, such as Deva and the various Elemental Myrmidons. When they have been summoned and you check their inventory, their weapon will not be there.
Still, with their inventory open, you can click a little preview button that's right below them. After you do this, their weapon appears for a millisecond. If you're quick enough, you can grab it, open your inventory while still holding it, and place it there. This gives you a unique weapon.
Leave a party member at the camp to prevent your team from being wiped out
One companion left
In honor mode, if your entire active party is eliminated, your campaign ends immediately. A little trick to prevent this from happening is to split the group and have one of them stay at camp while the others advance. The person in question must still be an active member of the party, but they can do so from a safe distance.
Although this means that you can now only fight with three party members instead of four, if all three of them are killed, your race is not over. It doesn't work in all situations, as sometimes they are forced to your location. But it works most of the time and can help you beat honor mode.
