Nintendo has suggested that the short films “close to you” were not teasers for a new Pikmin Games or DLC. The Pikmin Fanbase hypades after the confirmation that the short animated film was related to the franchise, but it seems it may take a while before a new game is announced, after all.
As soon as Nintendo released the short film “Near You”, the fans began to speculate. The animated film depicted a child whose pacifier is picked up by an invisible force while their mother is not nearby, and the fascinated fast fans. Players came with multiple theories, including toddlers to be Space Princess Rosalina from the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movieBut most people thought the video was a teaser for a new Pikmin game. Although they did not have surface-level similarities with the franchise, the short film had musical clues from Pikmin. The following day Nintendo revealed an updated version of the movie, which had Pikmin visible and showed them to devastate around the house.

While an actual Pikmin Function film made by Nintendo Pictures can be released sometime in the future, this is still a very disappointing end to a hyped situation. Pikmin 4 Was a big hit, sold three million copies and became the most popular game in the franchise, so there were expectations that Nintendo would at least support it with DLC.
At least perhaps 2025 is not over for Pikmin Fans yet. Although it seems guaranteed that a new post in the series will not come out soon, the latest rumors have indicated it Pikmin 4 Could get a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade.
