The Death Film has received a new status update, which offers more information about its story and character, with its largest takeaway that reveals that the film will not regulate the events in any of Kojima Productions critically acclaimed games. Many unknowns about the coming Death The project still remains.
The film pass of Kojima Productions Post-Apocalyptic series was originally announced in December 2022. Michael Sarnoski was subsequently linked Death Film as both writer and director. So far, the American filmmaker has directed two feature films: 2021 Nicolas Cage head role drama Pig and the 2024 apocalyptic horror A quiet place: day oneWith Lupita Nyong'o.
Death Stranding Film will contain an original story
On September 23 in addition to the Strand Event that celebrated Kojima Productions 10 anniversary, Sarnoski appeared on stage to provide some new information about the coming Death film. In particular, he revealed that the film is controlled from a direct adaptation and will instead be based on an original story. He also suggested that the script will introduce a whole new character. “I think, with this project, we really want to capture the game's soul, capture the game's themes, but tell a story that you haven't seen in that world and explore characters you haven't seen before,” said Sarnoski, reported by IGN.
Canadian filmmaker Allan kids are tied to Death Film as executive producer. Hammerstone Studios, a company founded by the productive Canadian film producer Alex Lebovici, collaborates on the project together with Kojima Productions. Death Creator Hideo Kojima remains “deeply involved” in the project, but has long known that he would not direct it, after saying that he has too much on his plate to do so.
No public casting calls have been associated with Death Film, which suggests that the project is still in relative childhood. Modern Medium Budget Sci-Fi films usually take between 18 and 30 months to get to the silver screens when pre-production starts. However, the turnaround time may be even longer, depending on the range of test views and VFX requirements, among other factors.
I think that with this project we really want to capture the game's soul, capture the game's themes, but tell a story that you haven't seen in that world and explore characters you haven't seen before.
The Sarnoski-directed Live-Action movie is separate from Franchise's animated Push, which will start with the recently revealed Death -beaching: Mosquito. Produced by A24 films (All all over at one timeThe The lighthouse), the animated feature is directed by Anime Veteran Hiroshi Miyamoto. According to the director's own words, Mosquito is a story about a guy who sucks. He has a tentacle-like appendix stuck in the face and seems to use it to suck something out of enemies, which was revealed by a short teaser that premiered during the Beyond The Strand event. Death -beaching: Mosquito is currently without an official release window, but the fact that it has now been revealed indicates that production is already underway, which makes a late 2026 or 2027 premiere possible.
