Magic: The Gathering loves a little universe in addition to these days, seen with the latest crossovers like Final Fantasy, and the upcoming Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender Collabs. They have had different degrees of success, with sets like Final Fantasy that turns out to be extremely popular, and others like Assassin's Creed One not so much.
When they meet, they really meet, which may be the reason why MTG can take players on an adventure, as it seems that another Lord of the Rings Crossover may be on the way. Earlier today, Wizards of the Coast Fans excited by both MTG and Lord of the Rings with an official post about Magic: The Gathering Instagram account, which included a video of a slow zoom in Bilbo's house at the end of the bag.
Magic: The collection apparently teases a Hobbit universe in addition to the set
We know that this is Bilbo's door rather than just a random house in Shire, most thanks to magicians including the caption “Happy Birthday Mr. Baggins”, as Sanna Lord of the Rings fans will know that Bilbos (and Frodos )'s birthday is September 22. Therefore, we can also tell the brand shown at Bilbo's Door at the end of the video, which is Market Gandal to the significance there, we can also tell the brand shown at Bilbo's door at the end of the video, which is the Gandalf brand until September 22.
It is possible that this can only be a simple celebration of Bilbo -baggins, as MTG is now closely bound with Lord of the Rings, but specifically refers to the beginning of the hobbit may mean that the magicians tease something a little more here. It would also be very meaningful for MTG to visit Tolkien's world, with how successful stories about Middle-Earth were back in 2023.
At least this little teaser seems to have convinced Magic: The Gathering Fans that Wizards have something up are the sleeves it is about to announce, both those on the side of the universe beyond and those who do not like them so much. Personally, I think another Lord of the Rings-Theme Universe beyond the set is very meaningful thematically, but we have to wait and see if this is a teaser for something big.
