Nintendo Has reportedly made relocation to post their customer support services from the United States to parts of South America, with hundreds of entrepreneurs who are now looking for new jobs. The transition from Nintendo came six months after the company sent a letter to some of its entrepreneurs back in March and says their agreement would end in September.
Nintendo's move to put out some jobs from the USA to South America came in the middle of Switch 2. With Switch 2, which reaches over two million units sold in Japan, Nintendo's latest console will be a hot product this holiday season. Part of the experience of canceling a new console sometimes falls on customer support services agents, who take questions from Nintendo customers daily. Some of the tasks that these agents have the task of handling include offering financial support, discontinuing accountants and technical troubleshooting with Nintendo consoles and accessories.
Nintendo posts some customer service jobs to South America
With the holiday jumping season and the launch of games that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Just months away, a new report stated that Nintendo is expanding its customer support services outside the United States. As reported by IGN, approximately 200 entrepreneurs were affected by Nintendo's decision to lay out certain customer service positions to South American countries such as Brazil, Nicaragua and Argentina. According to sources that spoke on terms of anonymity, Nintendo used two different US-based agencies to fill these customer service roles, with some surveillance positions on site at Nintendo of America's Main Office in Redmond, Washington. The sources expressed concern that the new agents will need to overcome language barriers and a rush of new Switch 2 owners who can ask for help with canceling their new consoles.
The outsourcing decision from Nintendo was made when the gaming industry continues to experience redundancies across the board. Some of the positions that have been affected by the industry -wide cuts include customer service, art and quality assurance. In response to the outsourcing report, Nintendo said: “We continue to develop and expand our customer service model with external partners that have deep experience in all markets that we earn throughout America. This approach enables us to support our entire customer service assignment in both North America and our growing Latin American markets and better scales. Nintendo also stated that some parts of the first report were incorrect, but the company did not further prepare its position.
When Switch 2 grows up for its first holiday season, Nintendo's choice will post its customer support at a crucial time for the gaming giant.
