Jinwoo vs. Ant King was brutal, but Tanjiro against Akaza will hit harder emotionally, and here is why

Solo department has become one of the most famous anime over the past decade. Perhaps the biggest reason for its incredible popularity is its intense fighting scenes that capture Sung Jinwoo's development. But it should not come as a surprise as the most popular anime in recent decades was driven by high efforts involving protagonists who fought for the larger.

In Infinity Castle Arc, Tanjiro will go the same way he encounters an old rival who killed one of his dear friends. This will set the stage for an epic collision set to compete with Jinwoo's battle with Ant King. While both fights are intense, the former will be much more emotionally charged, and here is why.

Hyper focus on Jinwoo made other characters seem irrelevant

Sung Jinwoo's fight with Ant King was intense and emotionally charged. Korea and Japan's future were at stake as the ants developed to get the power to fly. When some of the best hunters went to the abandoned island to fight for the bigger good, they initially enjoyed their strategy, which seemed perfect for the challenge.

But tragedy struck when Ant King arrived on the stage and attacked the raid party. When top hunters were killed in succession, it seemed as if no one were to survive. But Jinwoo just arrived in time to save the day.

The battle in Jeju Island was tragic and led to several deaths. Perhaps the most devastating loss was the one of my Byung-Gyu, the S-Rank Korean heal that originally did not even want to be there. Even Goto Ryui's end was shocking considering the hype behind him. But eventually all these characters acted as only a farmer, existing only to highlight Sung Jinwoos heroic acts.

Solo Living's Hyperfocus on his main person's character development made tragedies and the lives of other characters seem insignificant. While the fight with Ant King was undoubtedly brilliant, it did not have the same emotional weight as Tanjiro versus Akaza.

Each character in a story joins viewers only if they get the right development and depth. In Mugen Train Arc, when Tanjiro and his friends were sent to investigate mysterious disappearances on the locomotive, they found Rengoku who were already involved in investigating the case. For the viewers, he was not stranger because he had already debuted. But this arc gave Kyojuro the time to be himself and express his views and humanize him during the process.

As memories from Kyojuro rush through his head, Kamado will emotionally recharge when he puts his life on the line in the battle against the upper moon.

Unlike solo niveness, which often uses other characters for Jinwoo's development, Demon Slayer has honored their characters by highlighting their individual trips filled with trials and devastation. Because of this, Tanjiro's struggle with Akaza will not only be an emotional experience for the characters involved, but also for the viewers who have dropped their tears and look at Rengoku accept his death and use the last ounce of his energy to spread kindness and love.

The fact that the emotional resolution took so much time makes it more influence. That is why Tanjiro's battle in Infinity Castle will be much more emotionally charged and exciting than Sung Jinwoo's fight with Ant King in Jeju Island.
