The Final fantasy Series would be nothing but its characters, who, play after play, turn out to remain some of the most beloved ensemble in play. Some of these characters still fall either through the cracks in terms of earned popularity, or are sentenced straight up to eternal hatred for almost incomprehensible reasons.

Pretty much Final fantasy Games have both excellent and (unintentionally) contemptible characters, so this list aims to celebrate the easily forgotten and most underrated characters from the series. It's time to look at some of the most unfairly treated characters in the story of Final fantasy series.

Shera (Final Fantasy VII)

The most abused character in the series?

• One of the most overlooked tragedies in the series

Shera spends most of the game being eaten away by debt and is psychologically abused by CID, who blames her for making a mistake that ruined his career. It is absolutely bizarre that CID is such a popular character – especially in a game with so many popular characters already – when he is so openly monstrous to Shera.

Shera devotes all her life to CID in an attempt to compensate for what she thinks she was wrong, but the truth is that she didn't even have the indication of the accident in the first place. The game goes down a really Iffy road here, as CID probably finds redemption by apologizing to her, but for the wrong reason. He apologizes for realizing that she was not the guilty, and not because he was horrible all the time. Shera is one of the most loving and dedicated characters in the series, and she never even gets the apology she deserved.

Vaan (Final Fantasy 12)

Not * the * most underestimated, but underestimated safely

• A worthy heavenly pirate in the manufacture

Vaan is easily one of the least liked main characters in the series history, and it is difficult to understand why. Many people complain that he has no bets in the game and is only on the ride, but that is not true. He is not royalty, but he is lost as much as anyone else for the war, so it is fantastic to see a common point of view in such a scenario.

In addition, he has his own hopes and dreams, which are very similar to those from Luke Skywalker, a character that does not really have much more spice than vaan – and that does not get half as much heat as vaan does. Although it is true that his jacket is stupid, Vaan without a doubt deserves to be there both for the trip and for himself.

Shinra FFX-2

The most puzzling character (as we never know anything about)

• Another character that deserves a serious development

Shinra is a whizz-kid introduced in Final Fantasy: X-2, But it is not an innocent inclusion in the game. After the publication of Final Fantasy X.many theorized that the game was a sequel to Final Fantasy VII. Shinra was clearly put there to feed the flames as he shares the name of the evil megacorp players fight in Final Fantasy VII. Will Shinra eventually become the founder of Shinra Corp, or is this of these “CID” scenarios, where independent characters just happen to share the same name?

Shinra never gets the character development he deserves – not in X-2, At least. In a fun Easter egg present in Final fantasy VII Remake, players can see a photo of the original members of Shinra, with a man wearing the same mask as Shinra from Final Fantasy: X-2 in the middle. It's a pretty funny teased for those who know, so now it's time for Square Enix to come up with a game that plays Shinra and bridges the gap between the two most successful games in the series. Come on, it's money waiting to be printed!

Laguna (Final Fantasy 8)

The semi -protagonist

• A first class with protagonist

Many fans were quick to look at Laguna's segment in Final Fantasy VIII As unnecessary breaks from the main plot, but they do an excellent job of showing, not telling, the background to the game world. Laguna is also a very interesting equivalent that Squall, an immediately more pleasant character that, even though he is not as brave as the real protagonist, more than compensates with his wits.

It also helps that Laguna has one of the best battle songs in the series history. Laguna can completely lead a more outflowed prequel to Final Fantasy VIII – Or even a sequel where he reconnects with his foreign son – and everyone would win it.

Ardyn Izunia (Final Fantasy 15)

The best part of the game, by far

• A truly underestimated crook

One should never judge a book by the cover, but we are talking about Final Fantasy, Where we know that fashion is a big deal, and Ardyn is definitely the nicest character around.

Apart from the obvious, he is also a master manipulator who has played everyone since the beginning, but always in a way that is too charming for someone to hate. Final Fantasy XV Leaves players who want to know more about the Ardyn, and there is a few thousand years of worth of his story as a player does not learn in the game, so it is a good idea for a spinoff there.

Seifer Almasy (Final Fantasy 8)

The good villain

• Seifer deserved so much more

Final Fantasy VIII Presents Seifer as the abominable equivalent of the hero, it also not too willing squall. He is a cocky but seriously capable rival to the hero, one that avoids tropes as so many characters of his kind easily fall into. Instead of being consumed by hatred of the protagonist, or by never recognizing his equivalent's abilities, Seifer's documents reveal that he has no problem to release the facade and admit.

Seifer's installation in the first two discs in the game is nothing more than fantastic, but even the game Seifer was created for seems to underestimate him, as he becomes very little to do on the final record. It is a bummer, but it completely opened the opportunity for a sequel with Seifer where he was looking for redemption – and it would have been fantastic.

Basch (Final Fantasy 12)

He deserved to be the main character

This is very simple. Basch has all the petitions of a real main character – because he was supposed to be the main character in the wonderful Final Fantasy XII. Right at the beginning of the game, Basch is framed by one side of the conflict in a way that destroys his family and puts the entire continent in great risk, so there is more than enough drama and intrigue here to carry a whole game.

Unfortunately, however, Basch was considered too old to rore a game in a series that is usually led by someone in his teens, so he was moved to be a secondary character. Strange choice, but at least it resulted in one of the richest and most interesting supporting characters in video game history, so that's it.

Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy 8)

The most underrated protagonist (in all play?)

• Fans finally start understanding him

From the start, Squall had a mountain to climb. Final Fantasy VIII was the follow -up of perhaps the most loved (and definitely most successful) post in the series. Squaresoft knew they had to get in hard. The company's choice of a protagonist was not a very nice badass from the beginning, but an anxious teenager with attachment issues.

Squall had an advantage compared to all other main characters in the main series until that point, and it was the insight into his mind that the game gave players, probably in the hope of getting them to understand the character when he grew into the cool hero he is when players roll credit. Western players did not understand it at the publication, which can be partially blamed on the weak English translation. Fortunately, fans of the series have begun to come to Final Fantasy VIII As a whole and at Squall as well – which means he may not remain underestimated for all eternity.
