Donkey Kong Banaza has thrown up a few questions for long -term Mario fans, especially where it fits it in the timeline. Ever since it was revealed that Oddrock is actually a 13-year-old Pauline, questions have been raised if this game has been asked before, or if some time-traveling Shenanigans are in progress that has expelled Pauline from her timeline.

We have seen that Diddy, Dixie and Cranky Kong are all in the game, and strengthen time travel theory, but one way to really prove that Donkey Kong Bananza is set in the modern Mario -time line would be to find out the age of the main APE. Unfortunately, Nintendo does not seem to be as willing to give us that information.

In a new interview with IGN, Donkey Kong Bananza manufacturer Kenta Motokura and director Kazuya Takahashi were asked a bunch of questions about Donkey Kong -Tidlins and the age for both DK and Pauline. When it comes to Pauline, Takahashi explains that he wants players to “start puzzling out” why she is 13 for themselves, while Motokura similarly claims to hide Donkey Kong's age is “good feed” for the theorists out there.

The new DK game looks good, but where is Mario?

When it was suggested that Donkey Kong Bananza can be a prequel to Super Mario Odyssey, given that it was done by the same team, Takahaasci admits that he does not want to explain everything right now, because he needs to “leave something for people to think about when playing the game”.

Interestingly, we don't actually have a confirmed age for Donkey Kong at all, since he has been depicted as an never aging unit since its inception. But because of the great existence of Diddy Kong and Cranky Kong, we know that the DK family ages as ordinary gorillas, and if they share the same life (which is about 35 to 40 years), we can assume that standard DK is about 20 years old, maybe 25 at a push.

Pauline is probably a couple of decades younger than she was in Super Mario Odyssey, which would make Donkey Kong between 0 and 5 years in Bananza if it is a prequel. Yes, I strike with time travel theorists on this one.
