In the world of NarutoMadara Uchiha was the proud leader of the Uchiha clan during the Warring States period. He was a child prodigy whose talents were recognized by all, and despite being quite young, Madara was able to take on and beat adults effortlessly. Naturally, a person with his talents has a long list of accomplishments, including taming the Nine-Tails and going toe-to-toe with Hashirama Senju.

Madara inspired the entire ninja world to put their petty grievances aside and fight together, and throughout the history of Narutoonly a few people could push Madara to his absolute limits. This is a testament to the power of Madara as well as those who were able to achieve such an incredible feat.

Hashirama Senju was Madara's only rival

• Unique Powers: Wood Release, Sage Mode

It is impossible to talk about Madara without mentioning Hashirama, as the two were close friends who understood and respected each other. After growing up, they became leaders of their respective clans. With no peace to be found between the two sides, Madara and Hashirama fought several times, and while they were close in strength, Hashirama had the advantage.

Hashirama had Wood Release, one of the strongest Kekkei Genkai in the series, and he used it to crush Madara every time. If normal attacks weren't enough, Hashirama increased his power by entering Sage Mode. Hashirama and Madara fought one last time in the God Valley, and the Uchiha tried his best to stop Hashirama, but the latter was only one step ahead. The fight ended with Hashirama stabbing Madara through the chest, effectively ending his reign of terror.

Naruto Uzumaki impressed Madara with his strength

Naruto's first meeting with Madara was a sight to behold. The hero watched in awe as Madara took on the entire Shinobi Alliance alone, displaying his legendary power that even the revived Hashirama had trouble with. Naruto knew that stopping the legendary ninja would not be easy, but the odds did not deter him from trying. Unfortunately, Naruto's Nine-Tails Chakra Mode was not enough to crush Madara, especially after the villain became the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails. In fact, Naruto had to be brought back from the brink of death.

It was only after the hero met Hagoromo that the tide began to shift. Naruto gained new power from the Sage Of Six Paths, and his overall strength increased tremendously. His chakra reserves improved, and he was no longer prone to damage from Truthseeking Orbs. After that, Naruto was able to go toe to toe against Madara with ease. Neither Madara's limbo clones nor his meteors were enough to hurt Naruto. Towards the end of the fight, Madara struggled to find room to breathe. It's safe to say that if Black Zetsu hadn't gotten rid of Madara, Naruto would have had no problem dispatching him.

Madara called Might Guy the strongest Taijutsu user

Before Naruto and Sasuke gained Six Paths powers, the responsibility of keeping Madara away fell on Minato's and those close to him's shoulders. Despite having the numerical advantage, they struggled to push the Uchiha. Even Might Guy, using the Seventh Gate, couldn't make a dent in Madara's defenses. So the ninjas decided to change their approach.

Instead of trying to fight him in a one-on-one match, they came up with a plan that would allow Might Guy to beat him. The main difference was that Guy would use the eighth and final gate, while Minato and Rock Lee combined to get the Truth Seeking Orbs out of the way. This created the opening for Might Guy to land a devastating blow on Madara. The Uchiha tried to use his staff to stop Guy, but the latter was so fast that he could bend space-time. Upon contact, a large portion of Madara's body was destroyed. If the attack had connected with any other ninja, they would have died instantly.

Sasuke overwhelmed Madara with his speed

Sasuke's first meeting with Madara was very intense. At that time, Madara recognized Sasuke's strength and wanted him to join his cause. The latter refused, but Madara still let him leave as he did not perceive Sasuke as a threat. Sasuke wasn't as lucky the second time though, as Madara stabbed him with his own sword.

A normal person would have died, but Kishimoto wasn't going to let that happen. After being revived and receiving the power of the Sage of Six Paths, Sasuke became much stronger. In fact, he had Madara on the ropes. His Rinnegan allowed him to see the Limbo clones, removing one of Madara's greatest advantages. Sasuke's speed was also boosted, and he used it to great effect. He managed to flash Madara, who had impressive speed in his own right. For the rest of the fight, Madara was on edge, trying to protect himself from Sasuke.
