007 First Light confirms first DLC Story Mission

At Summer Game Fest, IO Interactive revealed the first year of planned content 007 First lightwhich brings back Lenny Kravitz's character Bawma in a brand new mission. It's been an impressive few weeks too 007 First light as the game not only received tons of positive buzz from critics and fans, but apparently sold very well to help put the Bond franchise back on the map after a number of uneven releases.

It's an interesting time for 007 First lightas the game has proven to be a huge success for IO Interactive, which has taken on both the development and publishing side. That success may have proved to be a double-edged sword, however, as new James Bond IP holder Amazon may be planning to step in. While the deal for 007 First light happened before Amazon's purchase of the IP, the company has already started talking about the future of the series, confirming that any future games or potential First light sequels will be handled by MGM and “theoretically by Amazon Game Studios.” What that means for IO Interactive is anyone's guess, but for now there seems to be a bright future for 007 First light fans.

007 First Light Year 1 DLC Plans

IO Interactive joined the Summer Game Fest and was on hand to reveal their post-launch plans 007 First lightwhich includes a wealth of content for players. In addition to new features like New Game+ and a dedicated photo mode, IO confirmed the first post-launch mission coming to the game, which sees the return of Lenny Kravitz's Bawma in Mauritania. While Bawma isn't quite as prominent as many likely thought after the character was announced in December, Bawma may finally get a bigger spotlight with this DLC. The leader of the pirate nation asks for help from MI6, which leads James Bond back into the lion's den to help deal with a sensitive matter.

However, a new mission is only the tip of the iceberg of what fans can expect. Mission Director Dominic Vega presented the team's full plans for the next year, including an expansion of the 007 First lights TacSim game mode with new missions, challenges and maps. One in particular was having players battle in the Q-Lab, while another saw players race a special vehicle through the roads of Slovakia. The Pearl level, set in Vietnam, will also have a new villain taking over the resort, where players will have to use their wits to defeat the threat in time.

Q Lab is also adding a new pair of glasses, the G2 gadget. IO wasn't quite ready to reveal what they'll be doing, only teasing that they'll open up new gaming possibilities and continue to push new creative freedom. There will also be new opportunities to utilize the game's vehicles in new ways. Fans looking for more freebies should circle October 5 in their calendars as the roadmap also teases a James Bond Day reward.

The trailer also addressed the delayed Nintendo Switch 2 version of the 007 First lightwhich reinforces that it is still coming and will launch sometime in the first year. Unfortunately, this version was delayed until the summer of 2026, with few details on its progress and leaving fans a little worried. However, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has continued to talk about the Switch 2 version, confirming that Bond has a special place at Nintendo and that he will do everything he can to make sure the version is in good shape.
