ZA's leaked legendary mythic mega evolutions explained

As the Nintendo community continues to recover from the effects of the latest Game Freak data leaks, new potential details about the upcoming Pokemon Legends: ZA The game claims that certain Legendary and Mythical Pokemon will get brand new Mega Evolutions. Dubbed “Teraleak” by fans, the scope of the leaked content is said to include extensive beta and unreleased Pokemon designs, the source code for Pokemon Legends: ZA and the next Gen 10 games, and also information about Nintendo's closely guarded Switch 2 or “Project Omnibus”. But among those leaks was the reported reveal of two new Mega Evolutions for two key Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

Mega Evolution's return was teased below Pokemon Legends: ZAs announcement trailer, but fans have so far been left in the dark about which Mega Evolutions would return if not all of them, or if Pokemon Legends: Arceus follow-up would introduce never-before-seen Mega Evolutions. But at the same time earlier Legends: ZA leaks had described a handful of returning or brand new Mega Evolutions as those rumored to be their starter Pokemon, the latest Teraleak has seemingly revealed potential credible information on Mega Evolutions for Zygarde and Zeraora. With Game Freak confirming the data breach, these newfound revelations could provide new insight into what's to come Legends: ZA.

Pokemon Legends: ZA seems to serve as the “Z” for Pokemon X and Y over ten years later, and if so, two more ideas should follow.

Breaking Down the Details of Pokemon Legends: ZA's Mega Evolution Leak

While the Game Freak breach was significant, the specific leaks were concerning Pokemon Legends: ZAs new Mega Evolutions are unfortunately limited to just one tweet out of many from Centro Leaks on X. The find was credited to fellow X user Mootmonthly who spotted content potentially confirming Mega Zygarde and Mega Zeraora, with the former allegedly even appearing at some point in Pokémon anime. However, unlike similar leaks for beta or unreleased Pokemon, there don't seem to be any potential designs for these Legendary and Mythical Pokemon yet, nor are there any other details about potential stat or type changes.

Possible Revelations From Pokemon Legends: ZA's Mega Evolution Leak

Between the game's namesake and the chosen setting of Lumiose City in Kalos, it seemed inevitable that the third member of Pokémon X and Ys legendary trio, Zygarde, would be Legends: ZAs mascot Pokemon. While recent leaks confirm this theory, Zeraora's inclusion was initially surprising, but potentially self-explanatory when linking the beginning and end of its name to the game's “ZA” moniker. Still, up until now Zygarde and Zeraora have shared few connections other than both appearing in Pokémon Ultra Sun and The moonwhich can mean Legends: ZA will build new ties between Pokémon Gen 7 and Gen 6 Mythical and Legendary Pokémon.

However, Zeraora's return with a new Mega Evolution could parallel it instead Legends: Arceus' Introducing Enamorus as a fourth member of Gen 5's power of nature Legendary Pokemon trio, especially since the rumored anime appearance of only Mega Zygarde points it out of the pair. Also, with Zygarde's already existing 10%, 50%, and full forms and a stronger connection to Gen 6's Kalos region, it seems the spotlight is on Pokemon Legends: ZAs Zygarde mascot, rather than Zeraora. But if true, this could hint at a recurring short-lived gimmick last seen in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

The Potential Return of Primal Reversion in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Pokemon Zygarde Groudon Kyogre Primal Reversion

The debut of the Primal Reversion feature helped Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire up for Mega Evolution when it came to the Gen 3 remake. However, like Mega Evolutions, Primal Reversion has been absent from the mainline Pokémon games since then, even despite its surviving popularity with fans and appearances in spin-off games such as Pokémon GO. However, similar to legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre, the leaked new “Mega Zygarde” could potentially be a new Primal Reversion, and this “Mega” form plays a key role in Legends: ZAs larger story and world building.
