A recent massive leak of pokemon-related content included information about upcoming main series Pokémon games, future spinoffs i Legends subseries and more. Dubbed “Teraleak 2” due to the amount of information revealed, it preceded the launch of Pokemon Legends: ZA with just a few days. Now that Legends: ZA is out, a series of in-game hints and easter eggs seem to confirm Teraleak 2's information regarding the next Legends title.
According to The Teraleak, Legends 3 Set in Galar
Pokemon Legends: ZA is the second game in the Legends sub-series and takes place in modern-day Lumiose City in the Kalos region. It follows the 2022 century Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which took place in the distant past, when the Sinnoh region was known as Hisui. Teraleak 2 says that the third Legends the game will be set in the past which Arceus—specifically in the Galar region, the England-inspired setting Pokemon Sword and Shield.
The leak contained some additional facts about the next Legends title:
-
It will take place 1000 years before the events of Sword and shield.
-
It focuses on “giant swarms” of Pokemon, something fans have theorized could be linked to Generation 8's multiplayer forays.
-
The story will involve the creation of the first Gigantamax PokeBall.
-
A leaked image suggests that the curry cooking mechanic will return in some form.
Repeated Galar references i Legends: ZA Can confirm Teraleak's information
The leaked information apparently suggests that the third Pokemon Legends The game is still early in development and its story and setting are subject to change. The same leak contains concept art of an early version of the Legends ZA was set in the Johto region before it was changed to Kalos, and the same thing could absolutely happen with “Legends 3.” However, there are a number of references to the Galar region scattered throughout Legends ZA which may hint at its appearance in the next Legends title.
Most of the references to the Galar region in Legends: ZA comes from dialogue with NPCs in Lumiose City. One refers to Galar Champion Leon coming to Lumiose and getting lost almost immediately – although talented at fighting Pokemon, Leon notoriously lacked a sense of direction. Another mentioned watching a battle between Leon and Raihan, the leader of the Dragon-type Gym Pokemon Sword and Shield.
But perhaps the most direct evidence pointing to the Galar region as the setting for “Legends 3” comes from a conversation between two backpackers hanging out on a street corner in Lumiose City. As they interact with, one of the pair notes that the Galar region is their “next destination” and that they are specifically interested in trying out Dynamaxing their Pokémon while there. The use of the phrase “next destination” definitely seems like a clue to the games heading to Galar in the next round.
“For our next destination, how about going to Galar to do some Dynamaxing?”
Another important clue is the presence of curry in it Pokemon Legends ZA. The player character's friend and sometimes rival, Urbain/Taunie, cooks a special dish known as “croissant curry” to celebrate the protagonist winning ZA Royale matches. The curry is particularly noted to be from Galar, and the dish appears frequently and is a regular topic of discussion, with Team MZ members Lida and Naveen debating whether it's delicious or weird.
Other minor Galar references include ZA Royale opponent Zach wearing Boltund-branded clothing, the Lumioise Museum noting that Kalos Elite Four member Wikstrom's armor may have come from Galar, and decorations around town referencing Galarian Weezing and Copperajah. Add that to the many Galar references scattered throughout Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and it appears that Teraleaks is revealing it Legends is heading to Gen 8's region is indeed true.
