You might have to go watch Wicked For Good to see the new Mario Galaxy trailer

The Super Mario Galaxy movie – set for release in April 2026 – was officially revealed at last month's Nintendo Direct with a teaser trailer. Now reports suggest that we will get our first proper look at the film in late November.

According to My Time to Shine, a movie industry “insider” outlet, the next trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will arrive with the release of Wicked For Good, which hits theaters on November 21st.

In other words, screenings of Wicked For Good will be preceded by the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. This is a common strategy in Hollywood – the trailer airs in theaters, leaks online, and then is officially released several days later.

The stars await

We know very little about the upcoming film aside from the Galaxy setting, which will likely borrow many elements from the hugely popular Super Mario Galaxy games, both originally released on the Wii.

Nintendo and Illumination have confirmed that the following actors are reprising their roles: Chris Pratt (as Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (as Princess Peach), Charlie Day (as Luigi), Jack Black (as Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (as Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (as Kamek).

We can also expect some new characters, with Keegan-Michael Key hinting that some characters will be “really deep cuts.” You can expect major Galaxy characters like Rosalina to play prominent roles in the upcoming film, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

I know I'm not alone in wanting Lubba's appearance, a very large, very purple Luma.

As for the movie's namesake, a collection of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 was released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 2. There hasn't been a new entry in the series since 2010, with 2017's Super Mario Odyssey considered the spiritual successor to the Galaxy series.

The Super Mario Galaxy movie is directed by animated film specialists Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who also co-directed the first Super Mario Bros. movie.
