Nine titles are set to leave Xbox Game Pass content library later today, September 30th. These removals, which include one of the highest-rated games on the service, will nearly triple the number of departures from Xbox Game Pass in September 2024.
Without taking into account the rare exception, Microsoft's subscription service removes games from its catalog every two weeks, at the beginning and end of each month. The latest wave of such departures occurred on September 15, when Xbox Game Pass lost six titles, including Slime Rancher 2, Monday 3and FIFA 23.

This time, the service will lose a total of nine titles. Xbox Game Pass departures on September 30 include The Walking Dead: The Complete First Seasonwhich is one of the highest-rated titles currently available to Microsoft subscribers. The second season of Telltale's hit adventure game will also depart the XGP catalog later today, along with Gotham Knights, Let's build a zoo, Loop Heroand My time in Portia. PAW Patrol: Grand Prix, Phoenix Wright: The Ace Attorney Trilogyand Valheim preview is also leaving the service as part of this wave of departures.

Although the Xbox Game Pass app was listed earlier Warhammer 40,000: Darktide since it's also scheduled to retire on September 30, Fatshark's well-received 2022 FPS will remain on the service for a while longer, as it's no longer marked as “departing soon.” None of the games that will leave the XGP catalog later today can easily be beaten in a single day, but dedicated performance hunters may still be able to rush through a season of The Walking Dead and add 1,000 points to their total Gamerscore that way.
Xbox Game Pass will remove more games than it adds in September 2024
After these nine removals, the number of Xbox Game Pass departures in September 2024 will increase to 15. This month will therefore be a net negative for Microsoft's service, which has only added 12 titles since September 1. The last time this happened was in May 2024, when the XGP library lost two more titles than it gained.
Moving forward, Xbox Game Pass has so far only confirmed one game for October 2024. The title in question is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6which is scheduled to reach the service on October 25. After Microsoft's latest level changes, you get access to all first versions such as Black Ops 6 requires a PC Game Pass or Ultimate tier membership.
