Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that some of its latest Magic: the Gathering products will experience a delay due to a manufacturing defect. The hugely popular card game has ramped up its output with a wide range of highly anticipated new expansions launching throughout the year. 2025 has seen Magic: the Gathering really embraces its “Universes Beyond” line of crossovers, with everything from Final Fantasy to Spider-Man and more. Now, however, some new products are now set to be released a little later than expected.

Secret Lairs act as a small curated collection of cards that players can pick up through the Secret Lair store, usually reprints of older cards with new artwork. Wizards of the Coast is now sharing some unfortunate news about their Secret Lair series.

Magic: the Gathering is delaying some secret lair products

Wizards of the Coast rolled out an official announcement about some of their new Secret Lair products on Friday. Within a “Secret Lair Update” posted to the official Magic: the Gathering website, the developer revealed that some of its latest Secret Lair items would be subject to a manufacturing delay, based on “inconsistencies with a raw material component.” Wizards of the Coast is giving fans options if their order is affected by a delay, offering refunds or changes to affected customers. Wizards of the Coast did not specify which Magic Secret Lairs are affected by the delay.

The production delay with Wizards of the Coast comes as the developer recently ramped up its secret lairs with tons of new products being released. Alongside the aforementioned PlayStation Secret Lairs, the developer announced new collaborations with pop culture icons such as Jaws, Furbyand Iron Maiden among several others. Magic: the Gatherings long line of Secret Lair products even includes an unexpected crossover with The officefeaturing several cards based on the beloved character Dwight Schrute.

Magic: the Gatherings litany of crossovers doesn't stop at Secret Lair drops, planning many more collaborations throughout the rest of the year. The final Standard-legal 2025 set will introduce the game's third full crossover expansion of the year, with Nickelodeon's Avatar the Last Airbender is added Magic: the Gathering. The Final Fantasy the collaboration will also get even more content, with new holiday products later this year adding some new promotional cards.
