It took a full 24 hours for drama to finally turn to Friday's reveal that the next Halo game from Halo Studios, the rebranded development team once known as 343 Industries, a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved dubbed Campaign Evolved, a single-player-only experience that will bring the first-person shooter to PlayStation for the first time.
The drama?
Well, a member of Halo Studios was spotted on stream at the Halo World Championships wearing a PlayStation logo T-shirt.
The executive?
Mike Ybarra, formerly president of Blizzard and executive at Microsoft, to start.
That's a whole lot of drama for a nothing burger
On Twitter, Ybarra noted that while he's “happy” that Halo is on PlayStation and Steam, the team shouldn't have anyone wearing a PlayStation shirt the day the announcement was made.
“It just rubs too much in the face of loyal Xbox fans. How you treat gamers will last a lifetime.”
The incident in question shows a member of the Halo Studios team wearing a PS logo shirt with a jacket over it, hardly the most recognizable and certainly not the most eye-catching ever either.
For what it's worth, it's not like Xbox hasn't acknowledged PlayStation before, including in congratulatory messages on social media, or hasn't already recognized the brand in several videos, as two other “exclusives” in Forza and Gears of War have both already made their way to Sony's consoles.
Which is to say, if there's drama to be had, there's a good chance you'll find it, even if it just revolves around a shirt.
