What 2024's Festival of the Lost May and Will Bring to Destiny 2
The 2024 Festival of the Lost may see a repeat of the 2023 repeat of the event
In recent years, Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost has largely incorporated the same gameplay loop. Players begin by visiting Eva Levante in the tower to pick up a quest that introduces them to the core gameplay loop of Festival of the Lost, which usually involves wearing masks, acquiring currency, converting that currency, and then bringing it to Eva for rewards. The 2022 Festival of the Lost introduced an event card that gave players a number of optional objectives to complete that would unlock cosmetics and other rewards. As such, it's likely that all of this will return again in this year's Festival of the Lost.
That said, 2023's Festival of the Lost saw a number of changes introduced to the event's tired formula, earning more praise than usual for its willingness to take things a step further. As such, it would make sense if Destiny 2 would repeat last year's repeat of the event. Specifically, the 2023 Festival of the Lost Legend introduced Haunted Sectors and Eerie Engrams, both of which were quite well received. Additionally, the 2023 iteration of the event also included a special all-black Memento that served as a decent attention-grabber.
With the addition of the Superblack shader in April 2024, if this year's Festival of the Lost has a new Memento as a reward, it will likely be a different color.
Bungie has revealed this year's Festival of the Lost Ornaments
Seasonal activity aside, one of the biggest things to look forward to Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost event is a new set of Halloween-themed jewelry that players can use to customize their gear in-game. Every year, Destiny 2 releases a whole new set of trinkets for each class to acquire, and 2024 is no different. Fortunately, while not much else has been revealed about the 2024 Festival of the Lost event, its new trinket set has.
During Destiny 2In its latest Episode: The Revenant livestream, Bungie briefly showed off the new Festival of the Lost ornaments, each designed to reflect either a dark (evil) or light (good) wizard. Destiny 2 Hunters will be treated to a dark wizard outfit that features a tattered cloak, a classic wizard hat, steel accents, and a magenta glow emanating from certain parts of the armor. The Warlock's 2024 Festival of the Lost ornament is very similar to the Hunter's, albeit a bit more on the bulky side. Finally, Destiny 2 The Titans will have access to a set of “good wizard” ornaments that feature a navy blue and gold color scheme, along with several patterns reminiscent of the sun scattered around the set.
As usual, players can also expect a weapon grind in the 2024 Festival of the Lost event, along with plenty of masks to celebrate the season. With the event currently scheduled to begin on October 29th, it's likely that Bungie will reveal more details very soon.
