Although romance is far from the main focus of the series, Cha HA-In and Sung Jin-Woo's relationship develop gradually and silently in the middle of the world's dangers and horror. While their dynamics are somehow developing, are Cha HA-In feelings for Jin-Woo for one-sided?
In the early story arches Solo departmentCha Hae-in is not initially placed as a potential love interest for Jin-Woo. That role first belongs to Lee Joo-hee, B-Rank healer, who supported Jin-Woo back when he was just a low e-rank hunter. HAE-In only comes into the picture after JOO-hee retires and Jin-Woo becomes a player in the system. Their first meeting marks the beginning of an emotional change in Cha Hae-in, but not really for Jin-Woo.

Cha Hae-ins feelings for Jin-Woo are more visible
Love at the first smell?
For the most part of Solo departmentCha HAE-in carries the importance of emotional work in its dynamics with Jin-Woo. From the moment she saw him, she knew that Jin-Woo was different from any other hunter she ever met in her life. His smell was not dismissive and there was an air of mystery around him that drew HA-ins attention and caught her outside. From that moment, Cha Ha-in silently reserves a place for Jin-Woo in his thoughts and eventually in his heart.
“Maybe you are interested in me?”-Jin-Woo to Cha Hae-In
When the plot is thickened in Solo departmentHae-ins feelings are also deepened. From treating Jin-Woo as a friend to seeing him as a love interest, she wrestles with denial before accepting and realizing her feelings. Who would have believed that Cha Hae-in, “The Dancer”, would fall in love with Jin-Woo, considering her cold and removing disposition? That said, Jin-Woo plays an important role in her character development and silently designs how she opens up to others and to herself.
Jin-Woo's unknown feelings
Sung Jin-Woo is initially so impressed by Cha Hae-ins aura, which reminds him of the Korean Hunters Association's Go gun-hee and that's about it. Instead of following cha HA-in as a typical in love male protagonist from a Romcom anime, Jin-Woo never persecuted her and treated her as a real love interest. For Jin-Woo, it is better to spend their time finding ways to level up to achieve their personal goals as quickly as possible instead of meeting girls. In short, dating was not on Jin-Woo's radar.
“Why do you exaggerate it? There is no need to go so far to join our guild.”-Jin-Woo to Cha Hae-In
In addition, Sung Jin-Woo is not the type to open up to his feelings and thoughts to other people. Even with his sister Jin-ah, Jin-Woo rarely shares his frustrations, worries or the burdens he carries. He always holds his thoughts to himself, so it was not exactly a surprise when he finally broke down and dropped his eyes after his mother recovered from eternal sleep. He showed another side of himself, one that fans either found incredibly moving or unexpectedly scrubbing.
There is an emotional distance and absence
Jin-Woo is too focused on their goals
It is quite obvious that there is an emotional distance between Jin-Woo and Cha HA-in due to different circumstances, which causes some fans to question the authenticity of their relationship. For many solo leveling fans, it feels like their relationship was simply forced, especially since Jin-Woo never really made a real effort to get to know Cha HA-In on a much deeper and more personal level. And because of a lack of emotional investment, Jin-Woo's feelings seem to be vague and doubtful.
Of course, Jin-Woo is too focused on achieving his personal goals, such as equalizing, finding a cure for his mother and protecting the world from threats with cosmic level. At the same time watches cha ha-in from the sideline with constant admiration, just like a fan staring at a popular and distant idol. The difference is that Cha HA-In is the only viable love interest that can keep up with Jin-Woo when it comes to courage, strength and determination among the female characters.
“It's not that? What in all world does she think?”-Jin-Woo to Cha Hae-In
The funny thing is that Jin-Woo is too dense to return to Hae-ins feelings, but there are times when he can be so blunt and sure he catches her outside. Yet there is a clear emotional absence from Jin-Woo's side, as his expression about Hae-In remains the same: quiet, calculating and ambiguous. Sure, Cha HA-in gets friendly gestures and protection, but these actions are not enough to confirm Jin-Woo's feelings for her because he also gives the same level of treatment for his family and friends.
Are Cha Hae's feelings for one -sided?
Final judgment
It is fair to say that Cha Hae-ins feelings for Jin-Woo are one-sided in Solo department. In fact, she can be the perfect example of the painful reality of one-sided affection given to an anime head who only cares to gain power and save the world. Despite this, Ha-in is still a good match for Jin-Woo because she is selfless enough to never require anything in return. In other words, she is not an annoying love interest that gets in the way.
In the end, Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo find love and comfort in each other. Although her feelings remain uncounted and unanswered for most Solo departmentThey still end up with each other and live life again. Maybe, in Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-ins relationship, their end is what really means and not the slow and uneven journey.
