Upcoming Star Wars games feature Anakin Skywalker

The upcoming turn-based strategy Star Wars game, Star Wars: Zero Companywill feature Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars: Zero Company is being developed as a joint collaboration between Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment. Bit Reactor is a studio largely made up of developers who previously worked for Firaxis at XCOM series, so it's no surprise Zero company has often been described as XCOM meets Star Wars.

Star Wars: Zero Company was confirmed for Summer Game Fest 2026 in advance, and the game's release date was also leaked online. The SGF 2026 trailer confirmed the leak Star Wars: Zero Company the release date was real, and that the game will launch on August 27 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It's a bummer for the developers that the release date was leaked ahead of time, but at least there was still a big surprise in store.

What role Skywalker will play in the main game remains to be seen, but the confirmation that he is part of the project is very exciting. Then Star Wars: Zero Company set during the events of the Clone Wars, this version of Anakin has yet to turn to the dark side. It's possible that more information about Anakin's role will be revealed in the coming months, but it's also possible that it will be kept under wraps until the game itself launches on August 27th.

Players will be able to create and customize their squad and weapons, use Force Powers, play as droids and, in typical turn-based strategy fashion, grapple with the weight of permadeath. Without anything new XCOM games in sight, Star Wars: Zero Company looks like just the thing to help fill the void while providing Star Wars fans a unique gaming experience.

Zero company wasn't the only one Star Wars video game showcased at Summer Game Fest 2026. On October 6, Fuse Games and Secret Mode will release the new Star Wars racing games, Star Wars: Galactic Racerscheduled to release for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Galactic Racer offers something completely different Zero companybut that's good Star Wars Fans are treated to a variety of games later this year.
