8 Stealth games that were ahead of their time
The stealth genre has produced some truly outstanding games, many of which were ahead of their time and helped elevate the entire gaming industry.
Ahead of the game's launch, publisher Tripwire Interactive shared a new promo video dedicated to Agnes Santos, one of the The Stone of Madnesss playable characters. Despite being an old lady, Agnes vows to put on weight by casting spells on enemies to distract them. She can also perform surveillance by seeing through the eyes of stone statues scattered throughout the game's world, which is extremely useful for scouting locations while staying out of the way.
Sneaking around like an old lady isn't easy
Each character i The Stone of Madness possess Darkest Dungeon-like traumas and phobias, which must be managed to avoid a variety of mental breakdowns, ranging from paralyzing to downright violent. While Agnes' character vignette does not go into detail about her own fears, it does mention that the witch lacks agility, which one would expect from an old lady. As a result, she will find it difficult to sneak around due to her frequent back pain. While one of her allies, Leonora Guzman, will be able to scale walls, even a step by step will potentially be a difficult challenge for Agnes, especially if the guards are on her tail.
In general, it will require the player to carefully consider when and where to move to get the most out of Agnes, while supporting her with other characters. In addition to her scouting abilities and spells, she can return the favor by manipulating light sources, whether it's to create hiding places for other characters or illuminate an area for one of her allies with a fear of the dark. At night, she can mix potions to restore the party's health. Agnes could potentially be at the center of some unique unconventional stealth gameplay throughout The Stone of Madness.
