At the end of JJKSukuna ended up losing to Yuji, bringing about a new change in the world and basically starting a new era. After Shinjuku, there are certainly many candidates who could potentially claim this title, but only one is truly worthy of it.
Gojo and Sukuna's death in Shinjuku Showdown
- Gojo And Sukuna clashed in Shinjuku
- Gojo and Sukuna both died in the same arc
When you think of the strongest in Jujutsu Kaisentwo characters come to mind. These are of course Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna. When it comes to Gojo, fans know that he was the strongest modern wizard. Born into the Gojo Clan, Gojo was blessed with both the Six Eyes and Limitless Cursed Techniques. With both of these abilities at his disposal, Satoru was unstoppable. In fact, Gojo was such a genius that his birth changed the balance of the entire world. While it's true that Gojo was incredibly gifted right from birth, he didn't become the strongest just by having gifts. Gojo's rise to the strongest was due to his own training and hard work. Gojo trained relentlessly hard, far more than most wizards fans have seen in history.
Goodbye, Gojo Satoru! I will never forget you as long as I live! – Sukuna
This was proven by Yuta when he took over Gojo's body and realized how difficult Limitless is to control and why Six Eyes makes things more difficult than usual mid-battle. The precision and control needed to fight with these powers can only be achieved through hard training, and Gojo accomplished just that. All this led to him becoming the strongest. Not only did Gojo master the power of his cursed technique, but also of the cursed technique reversal, and at the same time other incredible abilities, such as reverse cursed technique, and of course the pinnacle of Jujutsu wizardry, domain expansion. Gojo ended up becoming the strongest modern wizard, rivaled only by the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
As for Sukuna, fans know that he was one of the main characters in the JJKis the only character who even comes very close to Gojo and holds his own against him. Sukuna's strength was such that he absolutely demolished every wizard. His strength was propagated throughout the annals of time and even today he is known as the strongest of all time. Sukuna turned himself into a cursed object, only to be reincarnated into the modern era, where he eventually regained his full power before battling Gojo.
Fans saw Sukuna reach the pinnacle of strength and showcase true Jujutsu wizardry in his fight against Gojo. Of course, after this battle, Sukuna was nervous because of the damage Gojo dealt him, but at least he managed to kill Gojo, thanks to Megumi's technique. Sukuna then fought several wizards, again resisting as best he could. His strength, resilience and just about everything about him was absolutely spectacular in this fight. In the end, however, Sukuna was overpowered by Yuji, who grew at a drastic rate in this fight, and put an end to him.
That's right Sukuna! I can kill you! – Yuji
Sukuna was essentially destroyed, and Megumi's body was saved. With the deaths of Sukuna and Gojo, a huge hole was left in the current era, and this opened up the possibility of a new strongest wizard, which is exactly what fans have been wondering about since the end of the series.
The candidates for the place of the strongest wizard
Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu are two of the top contenders
When one thinks of the strongest modern wizard, only two candidates come to mind. The first candidate is, of course, Yuta. Fans know that Yuta is an incredibly powerful wizard who has been labeled second only to Gojo on many occasions. Yuta was Gojo's very own protégé, and his strength comes from the curse of love. Yuta, with Rika by his side, is nearly unstoppable. Not only does he have even more cursed energy than Gojo, but Rika can basically replenish her reserves while holding weapons for him. His greatest strength lies in the Copy cursed technique, with which he can use various deadly abilities that he has taken from his enemies, or sometimes even his friends. His domain expansion makes him completely unstoppable, and he could have even defeated Sukuna in his domain if Megumi had taken the helping hand he was given.
He can use any copied ability within his domain over and over again, and if that wasn't enough, the time Yuta spent in Gojo's body really strengthened him further and allowed him to improvise over his use of cursed energy. Yuta is quite easily a great candidate to be the strongest wizard right now, but he's not the only one.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami finally confirms Uraume's gender
Gege finally sheds light on a question many fans had about the gender of Uraume in JJK.
Along with Yuta, there is another candidate to be the strongest within JJKand this person is none other than the protagonist Yuji Itadori. Fans no Yuji to be incredibly powerful. He developed great strength in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, and much of it was due to having muscle memory from Sukuna's time inside his body. Yuji has enormous potential. In fact, Uraume said that Yuji's potential is equal to Sukun's, and in the future, if he is ever to fulfill his potential, he will continue to reach a similar level.
But right now, Yuji is not at that level. Still, he has access to basic level Blood Manipulation, which allows him to at least heal, and at the same time, he also has access to the Shrine cursed technique, which fans saw recently. Yuji's greatest strength is his soul-damaging punch, which he can also combine with his shrine. He can even manifest a domain expansion with a very powerful sure hit.
Who is the strongest wizard at the end of JJK?
The answer to the question of who is the strongest wizard at the end of JJK is a rather complicated one. If the fans are talking about the strongest right now, Yuta takes the crown. Right now, Yuji cannot compete against him in a proper battle and Yuta will most likely gain even more strength and reach a level similar to Gojo in the future. But speaking most strongly in the future, then, if Yuji is to truly fulfill his potential, he can undoubtedly become Yuta's equal or even get an edge over him. But fans won't know if that will ever happen or not. As such, the answer is pretty simple and as things stand, Yuta is the strongest modern wizard in JJK, with Yuji having the potential to surpass him later on.
Jujutsu Kaisen's final chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
