If you hoped that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom's Switch 2 Editions would finally give us more tips on Link and Zelda's relationship, unfortunately you will be disappointed.
Switch 2's launch lineup is admittedly quite narrow outside Mario Kart World and a surprising number of third -party gates, but at least tears in the kingdom and the breath in nature have seen some long -awaited upgrades. The Switch 2 editions of both games improve their performances massively, but they also come with some new watches and whistles.

I dream of a new rental that is not in ruins
I miss Lon Lon Ranch, okay?!
These new additions are available in the form of the Nintendo app's Zelda notes, which allow you to share creations, objects and even get daily rewards as a potential immediate article repair. However, the most interesting feature of Zelda Notes is the titular voice memories, which come from Princess Zelda and are found all over the world.
Don't expect many Zelink updates in the breath of the wild and tears in the Kingdom of Switch 2
However, we always have the split bed
There are a total of 365 voice notes from Zelda between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and they mostly serve to share some context on the world and Zelda reaction to everything. If you hoped that more screen time from Zelda could result in a few more tips on her relationship with Link (the biggest question in the entire fandom), unfortunately this is not the case.
Earlier this week, Youtuber Knightpohtytoe shared a video where they go through the results of the 365 voice notes and if any of them definitely suggest that Link and Zelda are one thing. From the start, Knightpohtytoe pointed out that most of the wild memories only “reinforced Zelda's feelings of envy against link”.
One of the only voice memories that stands out as potentially shipping Zelda and Link is the one on Eventide Island, who sees a link that covers his eyes if the couple loses his clothes as Link did in Botw. Of course, it does not happen, but it is a nice moment that can only be interpreted as Link as a gentleman rather than the couple is in a relationship.
In fact, link that covers his eyes may be even more a sign that the two are not together under the memory.
Outside, the only voice memories that suggest Link and Zelda's relationship are quite unmatched, for example when Zelda tries to get a noble hunting drink from Gerudo Town and is told that she is not ready yet. Another memory where Zelda plants a silent princess and blue night shell can be taken as a nick, but it is more likely a Triforce reference thanks to the mighty thistle she also plants.
All this is to say that Nintendo did not include any obvious references to Link and Zelda's relationship in the new voice memories, which left it up to the player's interpretation again. Although the notes do not explicitly say it, the double bed and the shared house that was in a clear view of the Kingdom tears should be more than enough evidence.

What good are remakes if the originals are stranded on decades old consoles?
