The Gathering Crossover set is basically confirmed

Based on the latest financial results for Hasbro in the third quarter of 2025, Magic: The Gathering has been a huge contributor to the brand's growth, particularly with sales from the Edge of Eternities set. While this is great news for the in-multiverse set, given the concerns of Universes Beyond taking over, Magic: The Gathering have had a lot of success with crossovers as well. Not all players are happy with this direction, and that may show over the next few years, but the train for MTG collabs is about to deliver another crossover with one of the year's most viral IPs.

With Magic: The GatheringThe Avatar set wraps up the year in November, and since 2026 is already packed to the brim with releases, it's likely that this new crossover will come in a different form – a Secret Lair drop and/or a Commander deck. This is because Netflix and Hasbro recently shared their collaboration for KPop Demon Hunters toys and other products, the first of which is the Monopoly Deal: KPop Demon Hunters. No express mention of MTG was done, but given Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro's approach, this is basically guaranteed for a few reasons:

  • Hasbro and Mattel are both toy licensees for KPop Demon Hunterswith Mattel overseeing the production of action figures, dolls and more, while Hasbro will deliver “immersive new ways to engage through play.”

  • Hasbro's press release specifically states that the company will “leverage the strength of its iconic portfolio — including HASBRO GAMES, WIZARDS OF THE COAST, NERF and FURBY — and introduce a series of engaging collaborations designed to delight fans of all ages,” which could mean MTG or DnD products due to mention of Wizards of the Coast.

  • Magic: The GatheringThe Furby crossover, as well as the Play-Dohs, reinforces the idea that Hasbro will use its IPs or licenses to create new cards, so KPop Demon Hunters fits the bill for a Secret Lair drop.
  • KPop Demon Hunters' HUNTR/X and other characters could be perfect for a Secret Lair drop dedicated to each of them, to the main trio as a whole, the antagonists, or even a Commander deck that includes all of these options.

With all of this in mind, it seems only a logical progression for Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to make MTG products themed after KPop Demon Hunters.

MTG x KPop Demon Hunters is a matter of when rather than if

Reason one MTG What makes the Secret Lair drop feel perfect for this type of collaboration is that it allows Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to work on it more pressingly, as opposed to a full-fledged set or multiple Commander products. The film also isn't big enough in terms of lore and characters to warrant major crossovers, such as the upcoming Avatar set in November.

With the idea that a KPop Demon Hunters cooperate with MTG is inevitable after Hasbro's latest announcement, it's worth mentioning that this will likely happen sooner rather than later to match the viral phenomenon that was the Netflix movie. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but with the collaboration between Netflix and Hasbro just announced, it seems reasonable to expect possible news in early 2026.
