The best cleric feats in BG3

Healers and support casters are among the most famous RPG archetypes that players have come to recognize over the years. This also applies to the modern classic Baldur's Gate 3, with the surprisingly powerful and versatile Cleric class. Everyone's favorite romance option, Trickery Domain Cleric Shadowheart, might have something to do with it too, to be honest.

Whether you want to be a reliable tank for your party and dish out healing spells left and right or just want to grill enemies in holy light, the Cleric is an extremely nice class. Here are some of the best feats you can take to make your Holy Servant even more effective.

11 Guard

Be the target

Sentinel is among the most powerful feats in the game, no matter what class or build you play as. It is versatile and gives you tons of bonuses. Sentinel focuses mostly on your attacks of opportunity, giving you additional triggers, benefits, and extra effects on hits.

As a cleric, you will likely be one of the characters in the party with the highest armor class (AC) and will therefore have an easier time snuffing out incoming attacks. With that being the case, it is very useful to keep dangerous enemies close to you and prevent them from leaving your vicinity to harm your other party members. Sentinel is the perfect feat to do just that.

10 Tough

Maximize health

It's hard to heal your injured party mates if you're bleeding out on the ground yourself. While clerics traditionally have high AC, a decent HP is also invaluable. Fortunately, Tough is a big help with that. It's a very simple feat that gives you two additional HP per level.

Although it may seem insignificant, it is actually good in the long run. At level ten, you'll have an additional twenty HP, which can be enough to survive three to four extra hits. It can practically be the difference between victory and death, which is what makes Tough so worth it.

9 Ritual Caster

Spell Versatility

While Clerics can be seen as the dedicated healers of all parties, they are surprisingly versatile. They are capable of firing incredibly powerful spells and using magic at the same time. Ritual Caster adds another dimension to their versatility, which is always welcome.

This feat gives you access to two ritual spells from a list of very useful spells. These are all quality of life spells and include great ones like Talk to Dead, Disguise myselfand Find familiar. While not as game-changing as some other feats on this list, Ritual Caster can be extremely helpful.

8 War Caster

Concentration is the key

War Caster is a good choice for those who are less concerned with utility and want to blast your enemies back to where they came from. It provides both benefits for concentration savings and allows you to use Shocking grip spell as an attack of opportunity.

Clerics have some of the best concentration spells in their list, so War Caster feels like the perfect fit. With options such as Shield of Faith, Quiet, Spirit guardian, Banishmentand more, clerics can be incredibly powerful if they can maintain their concentration on a specific spell at a specific time.

This feat does not add the Shocking Grasp spell to your spell list. So you won't be able to use it, except for the reaction.

7 Resilient: Constitution

Saving Throw Skill

Speaking of concentration, another way to buff is to grab the Resilient feat and choose Constitution as your stat. This feat increases the relevant ability by one and grants proficiency on its Saving Throw. Clerics, unlike Sorcerers, naturally do not have proficiency in their Constitution Saving Throws, so this is a perfect choice for them.

This feat can also help you round your Constitution score up to an even number if it's on an odd number. While it's a hard choice between War Caster and Resilient most of the time, Clerics can benefit from both.

Your Ability Score modifiers only increase for each even number. Try to round all stats to the nearest even number to maximize the bonuses.

6 Heavily armored

Impossible to meet

While feats related to Armors in Baldur's Gate 3, and D&D for that matter, are usually overlooked, there are some cases where they can be very useful. Priests are prime examples of that. Normally, a cleric starts the game with only light and medium armor, which isn't even that bad.

But Clerics work best when they are almost impossible to hit, as they keep their party healthy. Thus, upgrading to heavy armor with this feat can be absolutely worth it. Clerics can also use shields, so once you don full-plate armor or the like, you can easily push your AC above 20. After this, you can simply cast your spell every turn and see when incoming attacks fail to hit you.

5 Shieldmaster

Perfect defense for area spells

Speaking of tanky, Shield Master also goes really well with a defensive Cleric build. This feat adds a +2 bonus to your Dexterity saves when wielding a shield. It also doesn't let you take any damage on a successful Dexterity Saving Throw or half damage on a failure.

With the typical AC of clerics being so high, a common way they can get hit is through area spells and AoE attacks. Shield Master is the perfect remedy for that, making your Cleric even harder to take out. The fact that there are so many great shields to use in the game is the icing on the cake.

Assuming you're skilled, use a shield even if you don't here. +2AC is well worth it by far.

4 Mobile

Increased movement speed

Mobile is one of the best feats for clerics in Baldur's Gate 3. By increasing your movement speed, you can quickly dodge attacks and heal allies on the other side of the battlefield.

Difficult terrain won't slow you down if you rush, so you can maneuver across the battle zone faster than your enemies. After making an attack, the targeted enemy cannot use Opportunity Attack against you, further benefiting your Cleric during combat.

3 Spell Sniper

Increased Critical Hit Range

While playing as an unkillable tank can be incredibly fun, Clerics are capable of so much more. In fact, they can rival Sorcerers or Warlocks with their damaging spells in some circumstances. So why not double your attack and grab the Spell Sniper achievement? This feat gives you an extra cantrip but, more importantly, increases your critical hit area with spells.

This means you are twice as likely to land a critical hit with your offensive spells, of which you have plenty. Spells such as Firebolt, Steering boltand Inflicting wounds is good enough reason to pick up this feat, and this feat even works with spells you can get from items or other sources, which is wonderful.

2 Elemental Adept

Ignore resistance

Elemental Adept is a feat geared more towards burst classes; classes like Sorcerers or Wizards whose primary job is to deal high damage through spells. However, a custom cleric can be just as effective at dealing magic damage, and they can absolutely take advantage of Elemental Adept.

With this feat, you choose a damage type and ignore resistance to that type of damage that your enemies may have. Your damage with this type also gets a small boost on top of that. Clerics have some major damaging spells, such as Glyph of Warding and Flame Strikein addition to other spells you gain from your subclass.

This feat only allows you to ignore resistances, not immunities.

1 Skilled

Ready for anything

When looking at the best feats, one tends to focus on the most statistical combat advantages. However, a feat can be amazing even if it has no material benefit. Divorce, for example, allows you to gain three additional skills. This is a perfect fit for a priest; a wise and dedicated warrior who would know a lot about the world.

Clerics are wisdom-based spellcasters, so high wisdom is already strong. Crucial skills like Insight, Perception, Survival, and Medicine flow from Wisdom to begin with. A cleric should also be proficient in religion, history, and Arcana to some degree, lore-wise. This feat is perfect for those looking for a way to immerse themselves even more in the world.
