Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reiterated November 19, 2026 as the last Grand Theft Auto 6 release date. The executive cited the date in a broader statement on corporate governance, giving a sure signal that the chances of another GTA 6 delays are almost non-existent.
Rockstar originally announced GTA 6 as a 2025 title, committing to that release window at the end of the game's December 2023 reveal trailer. Roughly 18 months later, the developer pushed the title to May 26, 2026, before delaying it again six months later to November 19. At the time, Rockstar said it needed more time to expect that level of quality and the AAA games.
Take-Two still plans to release GTA 6 on November 19, 2026
Despite the earlier delays, Take-Two's latest communications suggest the company remains confident GTA 6s current release schedule. One such assurance appears in Zelnick's latest letter to shareholders, included in a preliminary proxy statement filed on July 17, 2026. The CEO wrote that fiscal 2027, which began in the second quarter of calendar 2026, could mark a “major turning point” for the company. That is due in no small part GTA 6The planned November 19 release date is near the midpoint of the current fiscal year, which should spread its impact over the fiscal year and likely make fiscal 2027 Take-Two's best year ever for net bookings.
Take-Two CEO spent more than half of 2026 to give the same GTA 6 release date
Highlighting the release date in a guidance document for investors represents one of Take-Two's surest signals yet that GTA 6 is firmly on the schedule. Still, the July 2026 filing is far from the first time Zelnick has assured investors that the company's most ambitious (and expensive) project to date is proceeding without any further complications. Since the game's third delay was announced at the end of 2025, fans and (to a lesser extent) industry watchers have consistently questioned whether the third time will be the charm, or if Rockstar is highly anticipated GTA 5 the sequel will have to be delayed again. Against that backdrop, Zelnick has now officially spent most of 2026 telling analysts, journalists and shareholders that GTA 6 remains on track until November 19, something he has repeated since January.
GTA 6's launch week forecast will dwarf GTA 5's first four years
According to recent analyst estimates, GTA 6 could generate as much as $5 billion in its first week on the market. More conservative projections put launch week earnings at around $3.25 billion. In comparison, GTA 5 generated $1.7 billion in the first 12 months and took about four years to reach $5 billion in sales. Of course, that milestone includes revenue from GTA onlinewhich has played a key role in maintaining the game's unprecedented evergreen commercial performance since its original launch in October 2013, just weeks after GTA 5 one.
History now seems set to repeat itself, with Rockstar already confirming it GTA 6The November 19 launch is of the single-player variety. Next generation version of GTA online is still expected to be formally unveiled closer to the game's release and will likely arrive a few weeks after the single-player campaign, mirroring the initial launch of GTA 5.
