Dragon Slayers are a rare breed in the Fairy Tailto be a magician who has a clear affinity with dragons. As the name suggests, they can kill Dragons and also get their magic from Dragons.

In the Fairy Tail universe, there are quite a few powerful dragon slayers that exist in the world and work with various guilds, both good and evil. Dragon Slayers each have their own type of magic that they wield, and it sometimes comes with different elements or types. Of all the Dragon Slayers in the world, these are by far the strongest.

Diabolos, a guild made up solely of dragon eaters, hosts many dragon slayers, some even said to be stronger than the main characters of the series. This list has been updated with a few more entries to reflect the status of past and newly introduced Dragon Slayers in Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest.

13 Erik

His hearing magic gives him an incredible advantage

Erik, otherwise known as Cobra, was a member of the dark guild, Oración Seis, who searched for the sealed magic, Nirvana. Erik is a powerful sorcerer who mainly works with poison, because that is his magic. He is immune to it and can manifest poison so corrosive that it melts anything.

What makes him so terrifying is his hearing, which gives him a huge advantage in a fight. Erik's hearing is so sharp that it can detect the movements of one's soul. Unfortunately, it was also his greatest weakness, as Natsu's loud scream was loud enough to destabilize him and win.

12 Wendy

A dragon slayer with so much potential

Wendy is the youngest of the Dragon Slayers and is a powerful mage who uses Sky Dragon Slayer magic, which is essentially wind based. As a first generation Dragon Slayer, Wendy is really strong, as evidenced by her fight with Irene where she helped Erza. She was also part of the Dragon Slayers that defeated Acnologia.

Perhaps her most impressive feat was using her Dragon Force abilities to defeat Ezel, one of the Nine Demon Gates of the Dark Guild, Tartaros.

11 Villain

A true shadow lord

Rogue Cheney is a member of the Sabertooth guild, the strongest guild in Fairy Tail — that is before he was overtaken by Fairy Tail itself. His Shadow Dragon Slayer powers allow him to envelop himself in darkness. Cool and relaxed in normal conversation, but ready to throw down at any moment, Rogue is a force to be reckoned with.

Along with Sting, he was initially able to take down Natsu and Gaejeel, and he always seems to be at his best when he has Sting by his side. He can use Shadow Drive, which increases his power, and he can also use Dragon Force.

10 Sting

Rogue's Brother In Arms

Sting is the other half of the twin dragons (Rogue is the other twin) and is one of the strongest members of Sabertooth. He uses White Dragon Slayer magic, meaning he can basically manipulate light the same way Rogue can manipulate darkness.

Strong enough to be recognized as Sabertooth's guild master, he was even able to hold his own against Larcarde Dragneel — and he even won the fight with the help of Rogue and Kagura's power. Sting can speed up regular Dragon Slayers and goes the extra mile with his ability with things like his secret art, Holy Nova, which blasts everything to smithereens.

9 Gajeel

Iron Dragon Slayer is ready for any scrap

Gajeel began life as a villain representing the Phantom Lord. When the guild was defeated, he joined Fairy Tail and was with them until they disbanded. He then joined the Magic Council, only to return to Fairy Tail when the gang reunited.

Gajeel uses Iron Dragon Slayer magic, which allows him to manipulate various types of iron. Gajeel's ability to replenish his strength by eating iron, which is usually in plentiful supply, means he can usually last in a battle. He has only gotten stronger over time and was even able to defeat Bloodman by ingesting his toxic orb particles.

8 Kiria

A terrifying stomach with an appetite for dragons

Kiria is one of the first Dragon Slayers introduced in the 100 Years Quest sequel's story, and she has immediately left an impression with her fierce personality and novel powers. With Blade Dragon Slayer Magic, Kiria has the power to cut through anything, including the opponent's willpower. She was able to overwhelm Erza with just one punch, cutting through her will and turning her into a slave.

However, Kiria can be blinded by her arrogance, an unpleasant aspect of her personality that led to her defeat at the hands of Laxus. Still, the true extent of Kiria's power is unknown, as she will likely return in 100 Year Quest's later arcs.

7 Madmole

An impenetrable behemoth

Standing as an impenetrable wall against his opponents, Madmole boasts Armor Dragon Slayer Magic, a type of lost art that increases his durability and strength by multiple folds. His power considers him an unstoppable force, as his magic makes him immune to both physical and magical attacks.

As a fifth generation Dragon Slayer, Madmole is incredibly powerful. His strength is further supported by his strategic fighting and calm personality, an aspect his counterparts lack. Overall, Madmole is a powerhouse that will be an obstacle for Fairy Tail on the continent of Guiltina.

6 Skull Raider

An invincible Dragon Slayer

As the de facto leader of his unit in Diabolos, Skullion Raider is the strongest Dragon Slayer among the newly introduced characters in the 100 Years Quest sequel. With Corpse Dragon Slayer Magic at his disposal, Skullion has the power to turn his opponents' bodies to ashes and teleport them wherever he wants.

Skullion can also turn his own body into ash, a power that gives him invulnerability to both physical and magical attacks. With strategic acumen and a godlike power at his disposal, Skullion is undoubtedly one of Diabolo's strongest assets.

5 Laxus

A strong legacy

Laxus is a second generation Dragon Slayer who uses Lightning Dragon Slayer magic. The son of Ivan – Raven Tail's master – and grandson of Makarov, who is Fairy Tail's master, Laxus comes from a long line of distinguished and powerful mages.

His strength has been evident from the beginning of the series, and his power only continued to grow. Laxus can use various forms of lightning magic, including the Red Lightning Dragon mode, which makes him stronger and is a lightning that “surpasses lightning”. Laxus can also probably use Fairy Law, which is a very difficult spell to cast, with only top mages like Mavis and Makarov being able to cast it.

4 God Serena

God Serena has the distinct pleasure of being imbued with eight Dragon lacrimas, giving him a variety of abilities and powers. He can use fire, water, wind, light, darkness and more.

He was able to defeat four Sorcerer Saints in a fight, with the very capable mages unable to hold a candle to him. He was also able to almost defeat most of the Fairy Tail wizards if not for Gildart's arrival.

3 Natsu

Natsu will consume anything

Natsu is the main character in Fairy Tailand this practically ensures his place on any list of strong characters. Natsu uses Fire Dragon Slayer magic, which allows him to manipulate fire. Not only can he manipulate it, but he's immune to it and can eat fire (as long as it's not his own) to replenish his energy.

Natsu's ability to hold his own in tense battles is one of the reasons why he is so strong. He also has a strong sense of smell that helps detect enemies, and he can quickly adapt in battle, which is very helpful in defeating enemies.

2 Irene

The creator of Dragon Slayer Magic

Irene is a dragon slayer and mother of Erza Scarlet. She usually uses conjuring magic and is so skilled in the art that she is considered a high conjurer. Irene has also killed so many dragons and bathed in their blood that she became a dragon herself.

Irene can also take magic from people and can bring inanimate objects to life. She can even enchant an entire kingdom, as she did when she used her Universe One ability.

1 Acnologia

The ultimate villain

Acnologia is the main antagonist of Fairy Tail series and is the strongest Dragon Slayer. Like Irene, he killed so many dragons that he became one himself, but he harbored such a hatred for the creatures that he still wanted to kill as many of them as he could.

Acnologia is strong enough to take out God Serena in one hit, and he is nearly impossible to defeat. In his Dragon form, the entire Fairy Tail guild had to pool all their powers with the help of Mavis to even survive the attack. Taking him down required all the powers of the dragon slayers to give them a chance. A terrifying monster indeed.
