After selling just 1.5 million copies and boasting “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Steam, Smugglers Police is finally coming to consoles. Launching for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 7, Smugglers Police brings the vigilante duties of Border Patrol to life with addictive gameplay and meaningful decision-making.
Most apt compared to games like Paper, please, Smugglers Police has been praised for its realistic, intuitive mechanics, which require players to carefully inspect the paperwork and vehicles of individuals crossing borders in a fictional communist country during the 1980s. Smuggling, corruption, and counterfeiting all present puzzle-like obstacles for players to deftly overcome, as players are given the opportunity for their actions to have a real impact on the world of Smugglers Police.
Release of police console for smuggling
To celebrate the game reaching close to 1.5 million downloads on Steam, developer Crazy Rocks and publisher PlayWay have announced a November 7th console launch date for Smugglers Police. Many have applauded the game's mix of document analysis, vehicle inspection and occasional FPS gunplay for creating a realistic sense of tension that brings both risk and satisfaction with each border crossing. Players are tasked with balancing document enforcement, contraband detection, police chases and mail handling, with a variety of defensive upgrades and tools like UV lights to help along the way. Similar to other games about working at a real job, Smugglers Police gives players control over each scenario, with multiple ways to progress through each inspection.
Along with the launch of the console, Smugglers Police will also release a special Collector's Edition, available for pre-order starting November 6th, which will include a hand-painted 20cm figure, a smuggler's box-shaped box, an in-game map poster, an Acaristani flag, a duty manual, a game logo, exclusive DLC content, and the base game (Steam) version of the game with Crimson Fall DLC. Both the standard console release and the Collector's Edition of the Smugglers Police will include updates received on PC, such as Inspector Mode and Challenge Mode, plus more weapons, quality of life improvements, and future content additions. For fans of puzzle-focused games mixed with pulse-pounding shooting combined to teach real-world skills, Smugglers Police could be one to keep an eye on as it prepares to launch on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
