Starfield adds performance-friendly creations

Alongside some much needed quality of life improvements and the return of unlimited frame rates too Starfield on Xbox Series X, Bethesda has also confirmed that creators now have the opportunity to make theirs Starfield performance friendly mods. In a new post on Bethesda's website, the studio said that starting with the November update, Starfield Creations released through the Verified Creators program will have the option to be performance-friendly, meaning (if enabled by the creator) mods downloaded via Starfield Creations will no longer block achievements from being earned by the player. Unfortunately, Bethesda stated that achievements will not retroactively unlock previous game saves with Creations, even though those Creations have now been made achievement-friendly by the mod's creators.

Back in June, Bethesda released the highly anticipated Creations program for Starfield. Although it wasn't available at launch, fans patiently awaited its arrival after the studio's previous titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4both received the same Creations program. Unfortunately, its final release earlier this year didn't go over as well with fans as many liked Starfield's Creations for being too expensive. Even months later, players still believe that many of the official Bethesda creations are overpriced, with some short missions costing around $7, while other missions are even charged per mission.

Starfield's Creation store, however, offers both free and paid mods, so not all players need to part with their cash to get in on the action. And with performance-friendly mods now opened up to all creators, fans will likely be more inclined to check out some of the amazing creations in the store. On Reddit, fans are already praising Bethesda for the latest update, with one user calling it an “awesome update” and another saying that the lack of performance-friendly mods previously prevented them from checking out specific Creations.
