The update for version 2.5 for Honkai: Star Rail is packed with new content, including the strongest Hunt character yet, and the thrilling climax to the latest Trailblaze Continuance story. It also released some new Planar Ornaments: Lushaka, Sunken Seas and The Wondrous BananaAmusement Park. Although they released with Feixiao, these sets are not for her. Instead, they will polish some existing team comps. It seems they are a sign of things to come for the game's meta as well.
A few relics and flat ornaments i Honkai: Star Rail hint at future character and team archetypes. For example, Feixiao's best-in-slot Relic and Planar Sets: The Wind-Soaring Valorous and Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves. These items provide optimal boosts to her CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, and Ultimate DMG as a complete set. They were introduced to the game two major patches before Feixiao's release. Harmony Trailblazer's pause effect-focused Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations set also dropped two updates before being introduced to the game. As such, it is interesting to see what HSR 2.5's new Planars can inform about upcoming characters or team archetypes.
Honkai: Star Rail 2.5's The Wondrous BananaAmusement Park May Hint at Future Summon-Type DPS Units
The Wondrous BananaAmusement Park is the more exciting set Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 Planar drops because it offers 16% CRIT DMG off the bat and an additional 32% when the bearer's summon is on the field. Two existing units can make good use of this effect:
- Topaz and Numby: The Wondrous BananaAmusement Park set is great for this duo as Numby benefits from every offensive stat boost Topaz gets. With this set's massive Crit DMG boost and an additional boost to Topaz's ult, the trotter will hit harder than before.
- Jing Yuan: Lightning Lord also scales from whatever stat buff Jing Yuan gets. The Dozing General has fallen out of the meta lately, but this new set's massive CRIT DMG boosts could give him the extra push to become more relevant again, especially in AOE-focused game modes like Honkai: Star Rails pure fiction.
How a new summon character can make the most of The Wonderful BananaAmusement Park
While Topaz will enjoy some nice stat boosts from this new set, she is better played as a support unit rather than a main DPS. Jing Yuan and Topaz also have their damage loaded as they often have to wait for their summon to make their move. Players often have to plan and time their buffs and debuffs to get the most out of Numby and Lightning Lord's turns.
Topaz can develop Numby through her skill and talent, albeit with special conditions. Perhaps the future Wondrous BananaAmusement Park user could have an easier way to preload their summon, like through an ultimate or skill. This way they can dish out big damage using the set's CRIT DMG boost with more control and consistency.
How Lushaka, the Sunken Seas benefits existing and future support
Lushaka, Sunken Seas doesn't seem to point to features of any new units, as it offers universally useful buffs. It can be a great asset to Support and Sustain units that rely on activating their impactful results as often as possible. This set offers an unconditional 5% increase in energy regeneration rate, which is useful for the ultimate rotation. It also gives a 12% ATK boost to an allied character that is the first unit in the lineup. These effects make the set an excellent choice for Honkai: Star Rail's hypercarry team with supports like Ruan Mei, Robin or Sparkle paired with solo damage units like Acheron or Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae.
Honkai: Star Rail 2.5's new Planars may be the best in-slot setups for a future summon DPS and a new support to enable them. Judging by the timelines from previous patches, such units could arrive as early as patch 2.7. If this is not the case, these items are a welcome option for players who want more build choices for their Topaz, Jing Yuan, Ruan Mei, Sparkle or Silver Wolf.
