GSC Game World continues to release brand new updates for its hit survival horror first person shooter game, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The latest patch arrives just in time for the holiday weekend and makes many improvements STALKER 2 just a day after the popular title received its biggest update yet.

On December 19th, publisher and developer GSC Game World released a massive STALKER 2 update that contained over 1,800 bug fixes, changes and quality of life improvements. Various fixes were made in patch 1.1, including adjustments to NPC spawns, AI improvements, balance adjustments, optimization improvements, and so much more. The studio then went on to release another patch on the same day, with update 1.1.1 fixing some issues that caused PC users to crash when launching the game after update 1.1.

After these two updates, GSC Game World has released yet another patch update for STALKER 2. According to the official patch notes, which can be seen further down in this article, update 1.1.2 fixes some of the recent issues with the game reported by the community. Some users reported that the shader compilation got stuck, leading to an infinite wait or crash. Thankfully, this issue has now been fixed, as have issues that caused some to crash when exiting the game and for others to be unable to load their save files.

The latest update also includes a massive new feature for STALKER 2 player that allows users to back up their save files and prevent data loss. In the official patch notes, GSC Game World says that save files will be stored automatically and last for four days before being deleted. Unfortunately, it looks like this new feature is only available on PC, with no word on whether Xbox Series X/S owners can look forward to save backups in the future.

All these huge updates and improvements over the past few days are sure to please fans, especially considering that STALKER 2 had a myriad of launch issues with a variety of bugs and errors. Although several patches have been required to bring the game to a better state, it doesn't seem to have stopped STALKER 2 from being a huge success for GSC Game World. The long-awaited sequel has already turned a profit for the studio, just a month after its release. GSC Game World previously announced that STALKER 2 had sold over 1 million copies in just 48 hours.
