But as is already abundantly clear, Solo Leveling Season 3 is not coming out in 2026 and has suffered a significant delay.
The Solo Leveling franchise is well aware of how popular the series is, and as such has lined up other major projects to keep us busy until A-1 Pictures finally steps in and releases the next TV anime installment. Solo Leveling Season 3 is facing delay due to other studio projects and a healthy animation schedule
While Solo Leveling: Karma will be incredibly fun to play, most fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating Solo Leveling Season 3. Med Solo Leveling Season 2 released a year and a half ago, it has become clear that the third season will not be released in 2026 at all. Solo Leveling Season 3 has been mentioned by some producers in brief comments, but has yet to be officially confirmed by the studio. Recently, Atsushi Kaneko confirmed at Mumbai Comic Con in May 2026 that the next anime project is currently in the works.
“Give us a little more time and we'll share something, they're working on it right now.” — Atsushi Kaneko, Mumbai Comic Con, May 2026
The CEO of Crunchyroll also recently confirmed that, while there is no update, Solo Leveling is currently undergoing significant work and the next show is coming soon. As it stands, Solo Leveling Season 3 appears to have been delayed to 2027, with an impending announcement sometime in 2026.
“We're just as excited as the fans… We know the creators are actively working on it, so hopefully we can announce something soon,” – Rahul Purini, Crunchyroll CEO
The main reason for the delay for Solo Leveling Season 3 is the time that A-1 Pictures has on hand. Solo Leveling, while huge, isn't the only project they handle. Other projects also need work, and sometimes that can mean Solo Leveling gets pushed to the background. At the same time, the staff involved in Solo Leveling can also be moved around, which means that the team working on the show can be unavailable at times, adding to the delay. But thanks to the latest statement from Crunchyroll's CEO, it's clear that work of some sort on Solo Leveling Season 3 is already underway.

Solo Leveling has many other projects heading towards the future
We are all incredibly excited about Solo Leveling Karma. But there are also other projects from the franchise that tease us. Although it is not fully confirmed yet, Solo Leveling maybe get a new movie. As published in a leaked committee report from late 2025, it has been strongly hinted that the Solo Leveling series is looking to replicate the massive success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Whether this film exists as a sequel to Season 2 or is a standalone project is still unknown. Those working at A-1 Pictures and Aniplex have not commented on rumors about this potential film, but it's exciting nonetheless. If true, it will be an exciting experience that we would absolutely love to experience in theaters.
There is one more project that could also potentially come in the future, and that is Solo Leveling Live Action, by Netflix. In fact, Solo Leveling is getting a live-action adaptation and while we still don't know much about it, some details have already been confirmed. It has already been confirmed that the series will have 7 episodes and will feature one of the best VFX teams in the world. Filming on it started in May 2026, which means it will likely be released sometime in 2027. While not everyone is as excited about this adaptation, it could surprise fans and actually make for an interesting series.
“In Japan, it's still not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece or Naruto. If Season 3 happens, that's when I really want to break that barrier.” — Atsushi Kaneko
No matter how we look at it, Solo Leveling only gets bigger with each passing year. The franchise is now popular worldwide and its influence will only grow. In the past, Atsushi Kaneko has said that they aim for it to reach the same level of popularity as Dragon Ball and One Piece in Japan in the future. While that will be difficult to achieve, it's still an admirable goal and we're eager to see where the franchise goes next.
