Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC is said to come after Veronica Remake

Resident Evil Requiems story DLC is still coming, but it might not come until after Resident Evil Veronica is launched. While fans may have a longer wait than they'd like, the latest claims indicate that Resident Evil Requiems story DLC can be quite substantial.

Resident Evil Requiem fans have been quite vocal about their desire for story DLC for the game, which meant there was some disappointment when the Leon Must Die Forever mode was added to the game. Although the mini-game has been liked by many, fans have been longing for it. Unfortunately, it looks like it could be quite a long wait.

The Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC may not arrive until Veronica is out

Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem has shared some new information that they have heard concerning Requiem DLC and upcoming Resident Evil Veronica game. Dusk Golem claims that Capcom is changing its battle plan for Resident Eviland as a result it will produce longer story DLC in line with the length of campaigns such as Separate Ways and Shadows of Rose in the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Villagerespective. They also claim that in light of the feedback that follows Resident Evil Requiems release, Capcom decided to be more ambitious with the DLC, and as a result more work and time is required.

Dusk Golem says that Capcom has “had a problem” with side games recently, and switching to DLC campaigns with longer stories is a “temporary solution” that Capcom is using. Dusk Golem notes that the story DLC will be released sometime after Resident Evil Veronica is launched. Veronica is reportedly in a state of development where “all hands on deck” are needed to cross the finish line, so there may be few members of the team available to work on Requiem DLC right now. With Resident Evil Veronica expected to be released in 2027, players can end up waiting a while for any additions to Resident Evil Requiem story.

Dusk Golem did not provide further details on what they meant by the problems with side games in the franchise that Revelations. But the change in direction for the story DLC is meant to provide the series with a method for telling more experimental side stories. With the main line Resident Evil games that perform extremely well, it may be easier to introduce new plot threads through relatively inexpensive story DLC attached to a popular game than to try to get fans to buy a spin-off at full price. As an example, Resident Evil Revelations 2 has sold 4.20 million units over a decade after its original release, while Resident Evil Requiem has reportedly sold over 8 million units just months after its launch.

These new claims are also in line with some that Dusk Golem has previously shared. Not long before this new report, Dusk Golem stated that both Resident Evil Veronica and reputation Resident Evil Zero remake would tie into Requiem. Allegedly, Resident Evil Zero is also worked on on the side Veronicawhich probably reduces the number of team members available to work on Requiem DLC even more. However, as with all leaks, players should take these claims with a grain of salt until the developer officially comments on the matter.
