A head of community for Ready or not has been removed from its position over an online comments made in the wake of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk's fatal shooting. Void interactive, publisher and developer of Ready or nothas confirmed the firing and says that the views expressed by the former head of community do not reflect the company.
During the debate part of a public speaking event at Utah Valley University on September 10, Kirk was beaten by a single ball. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead after an attempt at a life -saving operation. The high -profile public killing lit a massive spark in the worlds in politics and the media, with concern about the arms violence and the right to freedom of speech that was brought at the forefront.
While the gaming world has already been packed in shooting because of one Helldivers 2 Stratagem code found on a shell cover, the special incident that led to the closing of the tactical FPS game community manager, which is only known online as Kaminsky, apparently comes from a comment they did through the game's official discord server. After a user suggested KRIK's name should be included in the Discord server filtered glossary, probably to hold conversations about the game from dropping into the political sphere, screenshots of the exchange that has been shared on the Twitter show Kaminsky that they “just added” Kirk's name to the list. Kaminsky went on to say that they had just discussed Kirk's killing with a roommate and added: “Let me just say this: nothing of value disappeared.” An official community update of the game's Steam page omits Kaminsky's name but confirms that Void Interactive has completed its partnership with them and says: “Our focus remains on promoting a respectful and professional society around Ready or not. “
Kirk's death has had other effects in the media, with journalists from several national stores that they have ended after their comments were considered inappropriate by their employers. In addition, comedians Jimmy Kimmel's talk show was pulled from the late evening from the air after a monologue where he criticized the members of the Maga movement, with his words, “finger pointer” at the left over Kirk's death. In the meantime, Roblox Has removed several games with reference to Kirk's murder.
Kaminsky is not the only professional individual in the video game community who loses his job after commenting on Kirk's death either.
