Unfortunately for some Marvel Token: Fighting Souls fans, Sony's upcoming FlexStrike Fight Stick has been delayed indefinitely after it was originally scheduled to launch on the same day. One of Sony's most anticipated titles, Marvel Token: Fighting Soulsis less than a month away, with new reveals and details about the Arc System Works fighter only serving to further excite fans.
Following recent character announcements, including Ghost Rider's Samurai Outriders team for Marvel Tokensfans have been eager to learn more ahead of the game's launch. The full list has now been revealed, but Arc System Works has also announced downloadable content that will launch sometime after the game is out. So far, the post-launch characters have yet to be revealed, with fans hoping for at least a tease in the next few weeks along with a potential launch trailer. To capitalize on the excitement, Sony also planned to launch a unique peripheral for use with Marvel Tokenslike other fighting games, although things have suddenly taken a turn.
Sony's FlexStrike Fight Stick delayed indefinitely
Sony's FlexStrike Fight Stick was originally announced back in June 2025 during a State of Play under the name Project Defiant. A year later, Sony provided new details for the FlexStrike while confirming the price and pre-order date. Originally scheduled to launch on August 6, the same day as Marvel Token: Fighting SoulsFlexStrike has a rechargeable battery that can use wired and wireless connectivity via PlayStation Link. Not only that, it comes with 3 different locking gates that can be changed without tools, built-in storage and comes with a carry bag with harness.

The FlexStrike launch date was clearly intentional, although those plans have now changed. In a recent update to the original pre-order blog post, Sony has confirmed that the fight stick has been “indefinitely delayed” due to unexpected production delays. Unfortunately, Sony doesn't go into any more details about what's going on, just that the company continues to make sure it delivers the best possible experience to gamers by taking the extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. Right now there is no new release date for the fight stick, so Marvel Tokens fans who planned to get both on August 6 will now have to make alternate plans.
The FlexStrike delay isn't the only roadblock some fans may now face. Although neither Sony nor Arc System Works have officially mentioned anything, fans spotted a PSN requirement for Marvel Tokensincluding those on the PC version. Essentially, this requirement means that 132 countries are effectively blocked from accessing the game, with users from these regions also seeing an error message when trying to access the game's store page. This event is similar to what happened to Helldivers 2 on PC, a situation that Sony eventually changed and somewhat Marvel Tokens fans hope to see too.

In a more positive way it seems Marvel Tokens will be a feature rich game. In addition to online games, Arc System Works recently revealed new game for Marvel Tokens's Episode Mode, a single-player story experience that mixes comic-style cutscenes with traditional gameplay. The new footage also teased fights against The Promoter and The Champion, revealing their in-game character models and some of their moves as well.
