A Pokémon fan has remade the beloved water-type starter Squirtle into a knight, and the community is eager to see more pocket monsters transported into the medieval aesthetic. Pokémon fans got a taste of old times then Pokemon Legends: Arceus was released, with a story set long before the events of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in the Hisui region. Thanks to Squirtle's new fan art, the call for more old fashioned Pokémon game has started.

The drawing is impressive, and the Water-type suits the armor, including pauldrons, a tail guard and a helmet. Squirtle is a popular OG Pokemon that gets the fan-art treatment regularly, including one Pokémon fan redesign of Squirtle into a Digimon, and the artist behind the knight transformation confirmed that they did illustrations of all the Kanto starters in an adventure setting.

Redditors went out of their way to name a fancy new title for Squirtle's knight form, including Sir Squirt and War Turtle. A fan of the illustration thought the turtle knight would fit in a hypothetical Mystery Dungeon game set in the Middle Ages, where Pokémon would have different classes. The Water type is certainly a fan favorite, so much so that fans are convinced that Squirtle should be the water starter in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Squirtle was first introduced in Generation 1, hailing from the Kanto region, and the little turtle evolves into Wartortle at level 16 and Blastoise at level 36. Squirtle and its evolution are relatively easy to obtain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violetand each stage creates a formidable combat opponent with various abilities, including Torrent and Rain Dish. The Water type was one of three original starters along with Charmander and Bulbasaur, at the beginning of Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, Fire redand Leaf green.
