Fortnite is finally bringing DC skins back to the item shop

Summary

  • Fortnite has for a long time been plagued by Marvel crossovers while leaving DC in the dark.
  • That's finally starting to change with tons of old skins finally returning to the Item Shop.
  • This includes Starfire, who has not been seen in Fortnite for more than 800 days.

Fortnite's endless supply of Marvel skins and cosmetics has finally been cut back a bit as DC skins, including Beast Boy and Starfire, have begun to return to the Item Shop.

Ever since it rose to be one of the biggest online games of all time, Fortnite has made a name for itself with its many, many intersections and collaborations. From Skibidi Toilet (yes really) to Peter Griffin, Epic has made it clear that it's willing to work with pretty much anyone with a recognizable IP. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't play favorites.

Even Live-Service games are doing remakes now

We're going to run out of things to redo, so we're going to redo the remakes.

In recent chapters, Fortnite has teamed up with one company far more than the rest – Disney. This makes sense given how closely the two work together and how much money has changed hands, but it seems to have the sad side effect of putting DC on the back burner, leading to pretty much complete silence from the world of Detective Comics.

Starfire is back in Fortnite after more than 800 days

Thankfully for anyone sick of seeing Marvel's band of heroes, that's finally starting to change. In recent weeks, DC skins like Catwoman and Batman have started to reappear in the Item Shop, suggesting that some sort of deal has been worked out for DC to make its big return.

Most recently, this has resulted in the return of Beast Boy and, more interestingly, Starfire. Beast Boy hasn't been missing from the Item Shop for too long, with his last appearance on December 3rd, 2023, but it's a completely different story with Starfire. As pointed out by Twitter user and trusted Fortnite insider ShiinaBR, Starfire's last appearance in Fortnite was 830 days ago.

While DC's absence from the Fortnite Item Shop has been apparent for a while and much discussed by fans, it's a bit surprising to see how long it's been for some skins. While Beast Boy has fared slightly better, Starfire makes it abundantly clear how much Epic has benefited Marvel heroes over the past few years – we hope it continues to bring back the entire roster.
