Phil Spencer suggests that more Indiana Jones games come soon

Summary

  • Phil Spencer has commented on the success of Indian Jones and the big circle.

  • The Xbox manager suggested that the game appeared so well that there may be more Indy games in the future.

  • Machinegames' work with a non-game-IP is also something that Xbox has noted.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle seem to have been the hit that Xbox hoped it would be with more than four million people playing the adventure game, and that was before it came to PS5. So much so that it seems very likely that we will see more from Machinegames “put on Indiana Jones.

Xbox Manager Phil Spencer spoke with Variety this week and was asked if there are plans to build on Great Circle's success (thank you, VGC). “We are really happy with Indy and the players and the reception. We think there is life in that franchise, and I will just leave it on it,” Spencer told Variety.

Machinegames reveal Indiana Jones and Great Circle's Playstation 5 Improvements

Playstation looks like the best way to place this timed Xbox exclusively.

The interview took place earlier this week, so before the timed Xbox exclusion arrived at PS5, and Spencer swung quickly to focus on it. It is too early to tell how many more who have taken up the latest title in the machines since it arrived in a new platform, but it is probably a lot. One month before the PS5 launch, IT and Forza Horizon 5 were the two most pre-ordered games in the Playstation store.

We may not have seen the last of Xbox's Take On Indiana Jones

The Great Circle has been a sufficient success for its story to continue

Spencer also affected the skepticism of some before the large circle release because of the decision to use a first personal perspective rather than third person, which revealed that some people pressed that it would be third person. But since Machinegames was on the way up the project, the big circle ended as a first personal game, and it worked pretty well.

Indiana Jones may not be the only game we see from an Xbox studio based on existing IP. Specner noted that he was “inspired by Machinegames who took someone else's IP and did something so unique.” Get your dream projects now when it comes to pairing Xbox-owned studios that work with IPS that you would like to see reinforced in their signature styles.

We know that Xbox is working on at least one game that will tell a story in a non-playing world that already exists through Arkane Lyon's magazine. However, after being revealed during the 2023's Game Awards, it is unclear how far along Blade is under development. Spencer quickly brought that despite being inspired by the machine's work with Indiana Jones, he wants to make sure that Xbox Studios knows that there is a lot of room to tell new stories as well. Avowed and the recently released south of midnight are proof of that, not to mention Doom: The Dark Ages and Fable that recently got its release date until 2026.
