A PC players were saved by their gaming rig after a stray bullet was accidentally fired from a neighbor's gun and hit the side of the computer, damaging some major components beyond repair. Although the PCs took significant damage, no one was hurt by the accidental shot.
The incident occurred in the midst of an expensive time for PC gaming. Since the fall of 2025, the prices of RAM and other essential components have risen exponentially for several months. However, these costs have been offset somewhat by free and discounted PC games that periodically appear in various storefronts. Every Thursday, the Epic Games Store gives PC players a week to add two PC titles for free. Currently, Epic Games Store users have until June 18 to add King of Ouroboros and Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freaks to their digital libraries.

Steam users have a chance to get Doom: The Dark Ages for $1 Ahead of July DLC
Although it will require a fair amount of luck, Steam players have an exciting opportunity to get Doom: The Dark Ages for basically nothing before its DLC.
A game computer changed the trajectory of a stray bullet
While PC cases can vary in size and durability, one user can now attest to the latter. A Reddit user named Angelbabyzz stated that a shot was fired by their neighbor in the middle of the night. The stray bullet went through their gaming PC, shattering the side glass panel and damaging the motherboard and both RAMs. The case that was damaged was a pink Apevia Genesis mid-tower PC case, which has a price tag of over $100 on Newegg. Their neighbor then stated that the gun was fired by their dog. The neighbor immediately went to check on Angelbabyzz, who was sleeping at the time. According to Angelbabyzz, police stated that the PC changed the trajectory of the bullet, meaning Angelbabyzz would have been hit if the PC had not been where it was.

Angelbabyzz said the broken glass from the tempered glass side panel spread all over their bedroom, which took three days to clean up. Additionally, both of Angelbabyzz's RAM sticks were damaged by the bullet, as one of the heat shields detached from the RAM module. Debris from the gunshot and broken glass was also found throughout the computer, including damage to the graphics card, CPU fan, and various cables. As a result, Angelbabyzz's neighbor was charged with criminal negligence and their gun was confiscated by the police.
In response to questions from other Redditors, Angelbabyzz said they would not be pursuing any further charges because their neighbor has been cooperative so far. Their neighbor stated that they would cover any PC replacement costs if the insurance claim does not. Given that RAM and graphics card costs have risen rapidly in 2026, Angelbabyzz's neighbor could be looking at a steep payback bill.

It's not the first time a household item has saved someone's life from a stray bullet. In April 2025, a Pokemon TCG player named LolaInSlacks88 was saved by his Incineroar deck box after a bullet went through their closet wall and landed in the box. The 9 mm bullet tore through several Pokémon short, but traveled no further than where it landed. The Incineroar card that was damaged during the incident was then placed in a magnetized card protector and placed on LolaInSlacks88's fridge as a memento.
