On May 5, 2026, it was officially announced that WIT Studio's version of One Piece, which will be produced in collaboration with Netflix, will be officially released in February 2027. This new anime will be released in a batch consisting of 7 episodes. These 7 episodes will try to adapt the first 50 chapters of the One Piece manga, according to the official report from the official The One Piece account on X. Meanwhile, a total of 300 minutes of content will be delivered in these 7 episodes, which means that each episode will be about 45 minutes long, and twice the length of an average anime episode.

The first and most important issue that WIT Studios The One Piece the anime series will fix is the pace of the series. One Piece is notorious for being poorly paced. While the early parts of the anime are much better in that regard, given that they keep adapting over two chapters per episode, this rate drops noticeably as the story goes on. With each arc that passes, the pacing gets worse, and the later parts of the series only manage to adapt one chapter per episode at best.
