One Piece introduces two new Yonko level characters in Elbaf

One Piece's The Elbaf arc is already at its climax in the manga, with chapter 1183 officially released on May 24, 2026, in issue 26 of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime is currently still in the beginning of the Elbaf arc, and it's now picking up the intensity. On May 29, 2026, One Piece officially released a new preview for the climax of the first cour of the Elbaf arc that promised a 13-episode run. This new preview officially introduced two new Yonko Level characters to fans with the arrival of Holy Knights of God Shamrock Figarland and Manmayer Gunko.

Both Shamrock and Gunko have massive powers up their sleeves and are more than worthy of being villains in the Final Saga, despite their enemies being some of the strongest characters in the world, including Yonko Monkey D. Luffy and Loki.

On May 29, 2026, the official One Piece account on X released a new short trailer to showcase the arrival of the Holy Knights of God to Elbaf. This new trailer is a teaser for the climax of the first cour of the Elbaf Arc, which will deliver 13 episodes. So far, the Elbaf Arc in the anime has already delivered 8 episodes, with episode 1163 releasing on May 24, 2026. This means that there are now only five episodes left before the anime goes on another short hiatus.

With that, the anime now enters the climax of the first cour, and to get fans excited for it, a new short teaser has been released featuring Shamrock Figarland, a very prominent character in the story, as well as Manmayer Gunko. Both of these characters are some of the most important in the grand scheme of things when it comes to the Final Saga, as has been emphasized by Eiichiro Oda repeatedly. Meanwhile, their strength has already been hinted at in the manga, and it goes without saying that they are Yonko Level characters — something that is directly supported in the manga by statements from the author as well as the overall story.

Shamrock Figarland is Shank's twin brother and one of the most powerful characters in One Piece right now. After his introduction in the Elbaf arc, he is introduced as the captain of the Holy Knights. Considering that he leads the Holy Knights, he has immense skill at his disposal. Like other Holy Knights, Shamrock has a deep sea bond with Imu, giving him powers of immortality, regeneration, superhuman strength, and, in his case, the Cerberus Sword ability as well. This power makes Shamrock one of the most unique fighters in the One Piece world.

As for his overall strength, Eiichiro Oda has already highlighted it on several occasions. After his introduction in Elbaf, Shamrock temporarily confronts Loki, and a single attack from him is enough to nearly kill him. Shamrock even says that if Loki were to survive the attack, he would wait for him to engage him in battle, suggesting an equality in overall power level, and even a confidence derived from a certain level of superiority.

“If you should survive, come and kill me. I'll be ready for you.” — Shamrock challenges Loki, One Piece Chapter #1138

More than that, One Piece Chapter 1167, which was officially released on December 1, 2025, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue 1, officially confirmed to us that Shamrock Figarland possesses the same skill as Shanks. Considering that Shanks and Shamrock are twins, it will not come as a surprise to know that they both have immense skills. In fact, as Shanks proceeded to reunite with his family in the Holy Land of Marijoa, Garling said that if Shanks were to gain a deep alliance, he would then be Shamrock's equal. This suggests that, with the Depths Covenant, Shamrock was actually stronger than Shanks at the time.

“He [Shanks] has gone through the gauntlet of the lower world, but if he was entered into a deep alliance, he will be an instant boost, probably on the same level as Shamrock.” — Garling Figarland hints at Shamrock's superiority over Shanks 15 years ago, One Piece Chapter #1167

15 years have passed since then, and both have grown tremendously, and the recent comments in One Piece Chapter 1179, which hinted that Shamrock was primarily responsible for stopping the rampage in the Holy Land of Marijoa further supports the idea that he is on par with an Emperor of the One Piece world. Add to that the fact that Eiichiro Oda highlighted Shamrock Figarland in one of the most important panels of the entire story in Chapter 1121, which was officially released on July 22, 2024, in WSJ Issue #34. Shamrock's importance to the final saga is paramount, and he is an individual who stands toe-to-toe with the likes of the Emperors and could potentially be even stronger.

Gunko's overall power makes her a Yonko level threat

When Shamrock appears in Elbaf, next to him is Manmayer Gunko, another powerful character. It is Gunko who primarily tortures Loki in an attempt to get him to join the Holy Knights. Despite Loki's immense durability, Gunko's attacks do a tremendous amount of damage to him, indicating that her overall powers are immense, especially when she utilizes the full extent of her Aro Aro no Mi, a powerful Paramecia ability that debuted in Chapter 1135, January 4, 2025, Issue 6-7 of WSJ. In One Piece Chapter 1137, released on January 27, 2025, in WSJ Issue #9, Shamrock Figarland officially states that Gunko is strong enough to mortally injure Loki and overpower him, despite his status as one who can destroy the world.

Loki: This is only because I can't move right now.

Shamrock: The result would be the same even if you could move.

On top of all this, Gunko also successfully takes down four members of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece Chapter 1146. Being able to decimate half a Yonko crew suggests that her overall strength is indeed above that of a Yonko Commander and closer to the level of Admirals and Yonko. Additionally, Gunko acting as the primary vessel for Nerona Imu pushes her even further up the scale, placing her on par with the Emperors of the One Piece world, which can be even stronger.

Both Shamrock Figarland and Gunko are Yonko-level individuals who will play a significant role in the story going forward. Right now, Shamrock's involvement in the story is minimal as he headed back to the Holy Land of Marijoa after making a brief appearance in Elbaf. Gunko is primarily involved in the overall plot of Elbaf, as her background is currently being explored with the Esperia Kingdom flashback, which officially began in One Piece Chapter 1183. Gunko is officially being set up as the princess to save in this arc, and given her bond with Brook, it's highly likely that the Straw Hat Pirates will try to help her in whatever way they can.

Meanwhile, Shamrock Figarland will have a more important role to play in the grand scheme of things. He is Shank's twin brother and one of the strongest in the entire story. His confrontation with Shanks is inevitable at some point in the future, and it's something we're all waiting to see. In either case, both of these characters will play a significant role in the story going forward.
