The official sequel to the 2025s Shipwreck was unveiled on July 21, and it seems to capture the same spirit as Burned out paradise. The first one Shipwreck the game was also compared to Burnout series thanks to its focus on road rage, improvised racing routes and destructive, car-destroying crashes.
2025 installment of Shipwreck received mostly mixed reviews on Steam. That said, many still saw it as one Burnout replacement that could satisfy the demand for a similar arcade racer, especially among fans looking for an open-world game that felt like Burned out paradise. Now, Wrecreations follow-up seems to aim to recreate the same arcade experience.

The short teaser trailer for Shipwreck 2 showcases the game's primary setting, an open world map called Heartbreak City, which contains several distinct neighborhoods. According to the developer, players will have multiple game modes to try out Shipwreck 2including Marked Man, Blackspots, Eliminators, Pursuits and Road Rage. The latter two modes, Pursuits and Road Rage, may remind fans of specific game modes from Burnout series, as well Need for Speed: Hot Pursuitwhich was also developed by Criterion Games.

Like its predecessor, Shipwreck 2 will also have online modes, but not much has been revealed about its multiplayer aspects. However, it has been confirmed Shipwreck 2 will support cross-platform multiplayer, confirming that the developer plans to bring its urban racing game to consoles. After all, the previous title in the franchise is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Shipwreck 2 is being developed by a new indie studio called When Tides Turn, although the developers working on it are the same ones behind the previous installment. Explaining the change, Tides Turn said, “While Shipwreck began life at Three Fields Entertainment, we've reached a point where it makes sense for the project to have a new home, one that we fully own.” The studio also added, “Nothing has changed with the people creating the game.”
Wreckreation 2 Release Date and Details
Those interested in arcade racing games will like Burned out paradise can currently add Shipwreck 2 to their Steam wishlist. However, the game doesn't have an exact release date, and given that the first installment launched in 2025, it might not arrive until 2027. Fans who join the developer's When Tides Turns Patreon can also get a chance to participate in a future playtest, although testing will be limited to select users.
Wreckreation 2's possible minimum PC requirements
Developer When Tides Turn is already accepting pre-registrations for Shipwreck 2future playtest plans. Interestingly, the studio has listed minimum PC requirements for playtest participants, which can give a rough idea of how demanding the upcoming racing game might be. According to the listing, gamers will need a GPU equivalent to NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. They'll also need an Intel Core i5-12400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, along with 16GB of RAM.
The minimum PC requirements for the final product may be completely different, as these are only the recommended specifications for an early playtest.
