New details on the Rumored Resident Evil 0 Remake Shared Online

If there's one thing that's as exciting, or maybe even more exciting than getting a brand new Resident Evil game in the form of Resident Evil Requiem, it's the possibility of getting even more RE Remakes in the vein of RE 2, 3 and 4.

For some time, both Code Veronica and Zero have been rumored to be the next games to get the “Remake” treatment, but now, via a new report from MP1st, we have a little more detail on Zero's status, including exactly where it sits in the development pipeline.

Hint: things are in full swing.

Resident Evil Zero may have a very familiar cast

MP1st's report notes that the Zero remake project has been in the works for a few years now and has been codenamed “Chamber,” a cheeky nod to protagonist Rebecca's last name.

Performance capture and voice work reportedly began in 2024, and what's more, Jon McLaren, who was Star Lord in the massively underrated Guardians of the Galaxy video game, appears to have a role. A CV shared by MP1st notes that McLaren has a “Project Chamber” listed on it.

When the game is released, it will have expanded lore, including a section at the beginning of the game that goes into further depth, giving the remake a “more cinematic texture”. We won't spoil that episode, but feel free to check out the MP1 piece to find out how things expand.

On a final note, it looks like we won't be seeing Zero for quite some time. With Requiem aiming for a release early next year, plus Code Veronica reportedly following in 2027, that gives Zero a 2028 window, which is pretty far out. Technically, we should have played Zero by now, but a reboot in 2024 affected things a lot, according to previous reporting.

Still, if it means a better, more complete experience in the end, we'll take the delay.
