This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia has over the years become an unforgettable anime series loved by millions worldwide. My Hero Academia's The source material, which is its manga, ended last year, and the anime follows suit now in 2025 by adapting what remains to My Hero Academia's Last season. Once My Hero Academia season 8 is finishedfans will be in a tough spot with very little content to look forward to. While there is Vigilantes anime season 2 to look forward to, it's not the only project confirmed to be in the works, thankfully.

As many fans may have already heard, Netflix is working on an MHA live-action movie. This movie won't be released anytime soon, but they're in the scripting stage, and some fans are definitely excited for what's to come, despite the bad reputation of live-action.

  • The anime will end, but a live-action movie is in the works

  • Netflix is currently writing the script for the film

My Hero Academia Season 8 just started airing recently, and it's easy to tell that fans are very impressed with everything Studio Bones has delivered, from incredible art to fluid animations. However, MHA Season 8 is very short and is almost already at the midpoint. Fans are definitely worried about the future of the franchise, which doesn't seem to have much in store, aside from the spin-off Vigilantes.

But recently, Netflix made a hopeful statement about a forgotten MHA projectand it is MHA live action movie. This film was announced seven years ago, and now, finally, more work is being done on this project. It has even been confirmed that the script for the film is being worked on.

“I'm in the middle of writing it right now, so we haven't gotten to the casting part of it yet,” – Jason Fuchs

This is definitely good news for fans and could be big for a full-fledged MHA live-action adaptation in the future, similar to what is happening with One Piece right now.

  • No release date has been set yet

  • Production is still in very early stages

Hate it or love it, a live-action MHA might be one of the only projects that fans of the series will be able to look forward to in the coming years. Live-action anime series have a bad reputationbut Netflix has shown that it doesn't have to be so bad with the latest live-action One Piece, which, while not perfect, isn't bad at all.

“There is no treatment, there are no outlines, there are no scenes, there is nothing that Kōhei does not make notes on, react to [with] thumbs up, thumbs down. It makes me feel really confident that we're going to deliver something that fans, like myself, feel good about. You want to do something that feels true to the material. You want to do something that the fans feel respects the canon and the original, but also find an access point for people who have never read [the manga]who have never seen the first films.” – Jason Fuchs
